-- The state’s Department of Public Health said thousands of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines are set to expire.
Officials from the state's Dept. of Public Health said Connecticut has roughly 80,000 J&J doses, and 95 percent of them are set to expire between now and June 24.
This comes as vaccine demand has dropped off.
“We have not ordered new J&J through our state allocation since the J&J pause in early April, which has allowed us to gradually and responsibly work through our inventory as best as we can. In light of the expiring doses, we are employing a first-in, first-out strategy, filling all J&J orders through transfers from other state providers to avoid wastage. Unfortunately, the reality is that we are only using roughly 3,000 doses of J&J a week, so the majority of our doses will not be used before their current expiration date,” the department said in a statement.
This week, Johnson & Johnson said it is looking at whether or not expiration dates on its COVID-19 vaccines can be extended.

Put them on the Half Price discount gondola.
Gee i thought those exp dates were etched in stone
“Science” you know
You can bet they are good enough for 3rd world countries. Get them moving so they don’t go to waste. I am sure the shelf life is good for another 6 months.
Hate to toot my own prognostication but I predicted 3 months ago that this country would probably top out at +/-60% accepting a Covid vaccine.
Gonna end up being pretty close.
Send them to Vietnam, we are badly in need.
Really.
Joe Biden says that other countries don’t need muffin bottom vaccines.
He’s authorized the US to send 500,000,000 fresh doses of vaccine to other countries (no joke).
People waking up and scared now. The more everyone pushes this Frankenstein Spiked Protein mix, the more people get scared.
That was my gut feeling a while ago too. I figured the people who really, really, really wanted it well the ones to spend hours hitting refresh on some website looking for an appointment, then you have the people who wait until the rush die down Before they schedule, but that would be a much smaller group than the first.
It seems that once that first eager group of people got theirs, many of the Super vaccination sites were basically empty or little to no wait at all.
Like you said, when all is said and done I suspect the total vaccination rate will be in the low 60s, maybe mid 60s, but nowhere near the supposed 75 to 85% that Fauci said it was necessary to “end the pandemic.”
That’s 80k more lives saved, when they do expire.
No matter how many times the articles are posted, you still don't know about Choice 4?
Choice (4) Use safe, effective treatments in use for decades to cut the risk of death among the most vulnerable (elderly, comorbidities) by 85%.
Don’t worry. The Prime Mistake of Kanadahar, Justin(e) True-dope, will buy all your expired values, for use on Canadians. After all, in April, his Health Canada nabobs merely extended the expiry date of some AZ values, and gave them to Canadians.
We are soooo well looked after by FedGouvCan! (In Alberta we are also even better looked after by Premier Krooked ‘Justin’ Kenney and his Minister of Health, Tyler ‘ShamWow’ Shandro!) </sarc>
‘values’ = vaxxes or vaccines
Thanks I looked through it. Keep in mind the 1% mortality includes many people who are treated with those protocols. Without treatments, last April, we had almost 7% mortality. But part of that higher mortality was higher risk demographics getting hit first. Also they actually killed people using ventilators.

The bulk of the killing had already been completed while restraining the public from accessing medications.
The PCR test does not identify the Covid virus or the illness, so we don’t know what mix of persons are in the death statistics - I’ve seen articles saying “Hmmmm....maybe we ‘missed’ pneumonia”.
Then the death stats were inflated other ways - like forcing Covid-19 patients into nursing homes.
Dr. Yeadon formerly of Pfizer says the stats are in reality, similar to annual flu.
No we cannot get vaccinated yet.
That is my point. Vietnam was so successful at controlling the pandemic for so long, they basically stood to the side while the US and other countries grabbed up all the vaccines.
NOW we are seeing the worst outbreak by far, basically now there are no vaccinations for us.
Here are the numbers as best I can guess. We had about 1/3 of Americans infected last year. There were 511,000 more deaths than 2019, but many were from hospitals shut down, etc. So say 200,000 from COVID (dying from something else, but they died early due to COVID), out the 500,000 increased deaths.
Tnat means 0.24% infection mortality rate. That's about double what a bad flu does.
Sorry I answered the wrong post. :)
Vietnam stood aside as everyone in the world grabbed up vaccinations.
Because there was basically no infection going on here. Really.
That changed about a month ago. But now this country (not huge, but with a pretty significant population - 100,000,000) needs vaccinations.
Please.
I never thought 60% could be so stupid.
