Beefed-up security came with a hefty price tag at the murder trial of ex-Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd.

The Minnesota city’s police department chalked up $2.9 million in overtime during the high-profile trial, which led to Chauvin’s conviction on murder charges, Fox affiliate KMSP-TV reported.

The revelation came as Minneapolis police asked the city council at a Wednesday night hearing for $5 million in additional funding to offset spiraling costs, KMSP said.

One of the reasons prosecutors are careful to take only important cases, and cases they think they can win, is it costs money. When they run out of money they have to stop prosecuting, or find the money elsewhere. I recall a story about a tiny rural county that had to prosecute a local murderer and had to assess everyone in the county a significant amount.

However, when the idea is to make a liberal political point, money is no object and they really don’t give a darn about real crime anyway. One of the results of this is CVS pulling out of San Francisco because San Fran will not prosecute shoplifting and it has turned into a business. Why are they not prosecuting? Because to do so is racist.

$2.9 million?

Shit, I could have done that trial for free since the verdict was decided in advance.

Just bang the gavel, say “guilty” and send everyone home.

Maybe the Floyd family would make a donation from their $27 million settlement.

They could have saved that money and just announced the forgone verdict.

Uh, no. The “feared reaction” to the trial was what caused the OT.

All that money to finance a kangaroo court and a lynching.

What a bunch of Mitt-licking klowns the prosecutors and the judges are.

Notice that while everyone is talking about getting rid of the police - no one is talking about getting rid of the prosecutors...
