Andrew Lloyd Webber says he will open theatres on June 21 "come hell or high water"

Andrew Lloyd Webber has said he will open his theatres on 21 June, and is prepared to be arrested if authorities try to intervene.

The composer has also warned he may have to sell his six West End venues if the government does not relax its restrictions as set out in its roadmap for England.

The pandemic has had a catastrophic financial impact on the theatre industry and many have remained closed despite the ease in COVID-19 restrictions as it is not financially viable for them to open with reduced capacities.

Lord Lloyd Webber is preparing for a production of Cinderella, which is scheduled to open for previews on 25 June ahead of its world premiere in July.

"We are going to open, come hell or high water," Lord Lloyd Webber told the Daily Telegraph.

Asked what he would do if the government postponed lifting lockdown, he said: "We will say, 'come to the theatre and arrest us'."

It looks like the Demonrats are finally loosing the artist crowd.
Leftists shut down Broadway for over a year and they took it like bitches.

Hope he sells out his shows.

It would be so funny. Cops will have to arrest everyone. Good luck with that

This is in London’s West End, not Broadway.

We are going to open, come hell or high water,” Lord Lloyd Webber told the Daily Telegraph.

It’s a little late to find your balls, Andy, you gave them the power to financially destroy you.

This is Britain. No Bill of Rights, no Constitution. As if any American judges even enforced those. He will be jailed.

So therefore he should keep on doing so? One of the problems with conservatives is that they never forgive and never forget, and there is no way for their opponent to ever make it right, no matter how much he changes.

Accept what somebody is doing now and support them when they’re doing the right thing, even if they’re late to the game.

He can’t wait to inflict his gay-infused version of Cinderella on the theatre-going public. Is it also Narcissism Month in the UK?

If this was in the States, I’d say “ok, good for you!”. As this is in London, he’s either going to jail or they’ll have to open everything.

You said that not me. It’s his own damn fault if he’s mortally wounded though. He handed his business over to the government. Fighting earlier rather than later is usually a hell of a lot more advisable

Definitely better. But don’t kick out people who were slow to realize what was going on. They’ve been brainwashed for so long, especially in the theater industry, that this is practically a miracle.

"Fighting earlier rather than later is usually a hell of a lot more advisable."

History shows that the course of action you propose, TalBlack, is usually the better course of action. It is also the exception rather than the rule.

Conservatism appeals to people who just want to be left alone to pursue their own potential. People in general want to think the best of their fellow man, and for most, it's desirable to avoid conflict if at all possible, so many wait until it becomes inevitable. Frequently that is when it's already too late.

Yes it would have been magnificent if the glitterati would have stood up earlier, but they did not. I'm glad Weber and some others are standing up now.

“You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

~C.S. Lewis.
