At least 60 members of Congress from both parties have been unable to access data for weeks in the latest ransomware attack to strike the United States.

The target was iConstituent, a tech vendor that provides constituent outreach services to dozens of House offices, including a newsletter service that allows lawmakers to communicate with residents in their districts and a service to track constituent casework.

It's the latest cyber attack after a series of hacks against the US executive branch and American companies have left many institutions feeling vulnerable and the Biden administration struggling to deal with the situation.

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, which handles IT security for the House of Representatives, said there was 'no impact' on overall House data and it was working with the company to resolve the situation.

Dang! Congresscritters sitting around idle with nothing to do. It’s a CATASTROPHE! A DISASTER of unprecedented magnitude, I tell you.

Why does this come to mind? “No man’s life, liberty or property are safe while the Legislature is in session.”

"Time to start hunting down hackers as enemy combatants and terminating them with extreme prejudice."

hackers have been tolerated because they are good for the software industry. The legitimate software vendors get to charge more for maintenance, sell security software, etc. It is a "That's a nice computer system, it be a shame if anything happened to it." Right now if you pull off a big hack you get a great job being paid prevent others from commuting the same crime or so that they an perpetrate the crime on others.

if they started executing hackers you'll see a lot less hacking.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Shut them all down for 365 days and watch our situation improve rapidly.

and the Biden administration struggling to deal with the situation.

Struggle harder and smarter BuckFiden.

Apparently another data processing company that failed to have good, secure backups of their files. It's not that hard.

“China, yes, with a little help from their friends who sit in the big man’s chair along with his son.”

Well said. If I have learned anything in the last 40 years it would be that our own government is always the first to suspect with things like this. Especially our own rogue CIA.

The FIB has been saying that the hacks are by russians but all we really know is that a Russian company has been selling their hacker software to OTHER people.

They consider the “theft” of Nanzi Pelosi’s laptop to be a bigger crime. If someone stole Nanzi’s computer, you’d think they would’ve leaked some emails by now (5 months)

iConstituent must be a real crap company to fall prey to a ransomware attack. But I’m sure they have all the right K Street connections.
