Open season is not a solution. I almost believe that it is ok to kill a python in Florida all the time and what's more, if you surrender the dead snake you might be paid a bounty.

Now, a first hand report.

There is a cross Florida highway called the Tamiami Trail. It is more or less deserted on the southern side. It is sort of the northern boundry of wilderness and Everglades. In some places there is a canal. But in almost all places there is impenetrable vegetation. Even with open season, a hunter can't pass through the vegetation and find the pythons.
