Jimmy Kimmel called Florida "America's North Korea" during a recent broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC.
The comedian went after the Sunshine State, and particularly Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, for the state's recently announced "python challenge," where participants win prizes for capturing large snakes in an effort to protect the Everglades wetlands.
"In America’s North Korea, the Sunshine State, from time to time, we enjoy taking a look at what’s going on, and tonight, we are doing it again in a Gov. DeSantis edition of 'This Week in Florida,'" Kimmel said before playing a clip of DeSantis announcing the challenge, prompting the comedian to joke that "all the prizes are pythons."
DeSantis praised the python challenge as instrumental in "protecting, restoring and preserving the Everglades for future generations."
"At my direction, the state has taken unprecedented steps to increase python removal, including hosting the Python Challenge annually, and expanding access for python hunters to 134,000 acres of state parks and the Big Cypress National Preserve," he continued. "As a result of our efforts, [Florida's Fish and Wildlife Commission] had a record year for python removal in 2020, and has now removed more than 13,000 pythons since 2000. I’m proud to be here today to kick off registration for another Python Challenge, and I look forward to seeing this year’s results."
I used to live in Margate....................
Jim bo please come to Florida....we love to show you how troll for gators.....bye
Just the opposite. Florida is a “free state.” California is a “slave state.” They are slaves to the masks and authoritarian government.
If it keeps New Yorkers and Californians from wanting to move there, I’m all for it.
(s) nully, who in a happier time was a Floridian...
Maybe I should have done more homework, but I didn’t know (though I should have) that he was a Navy Lieutenant. My son is an Air Force Lieutenant. 😀👍
I wonder which leftist shithole his show is based out of, NY or CA?
Kimmel is supposed to be a funnyman but all I see is a joke.
Does the Left hate liberty and prosperity so much that they compare a state trying to protect its people’s freedom and welfare with a murderous totalitarian kingdom?
Well, let’s see....
*Starving citizens who eat grass to survive....Nope, not Florida.
*Insane dictator (or possibly his sister) who executes people by anti-aircraft gun or being torn apart by rabid dogs...Nope, not Florida.
*Electrical power so restricted that you can see just the capital from space at night...Nope, not Florida.
*Prevention of people leaving to find freedom with heavy fencing, border guards, and shoot-to-kill orders...Nope, not Florida.
Methinks Comrade Kimmel needs to get a clue.
Late night comedy is the primary source of political information for Millennials. Of course, the scripted “jokes” are designed to reflect the collectivist narrative in a highly precise way. Just spew it out in a snarky, sarcastic tone that gives the listener the impression they now know more than “Dad”, and the message content can be whatever the controllers want - actual humor optional.
Maybe he should come to Florida.
A lot can be hid - and never found - in a swamp.
What’s a Kimmel ?
Kimmel is about as funny as Samantha Bee and about as much in touch with reality.
Oddly, the most "Un-PC" thing Kimmel ever did on that show was his blackface impression of Karl Malone, which I thought was both unfunny and actually racist even back then.
Carolla was hilarious, though.
“IN SPITE OF THE RISK OF HURRICANES. That people would rather deal with hurricanes than leftists pretty much tells you all you need to know..”
Of course. With hurricanes you can pray to God for mercy that the storm will miss you. Leftist government acolytes have no mercy and you are assured of death and destruction.
Jimmy “Juggies” Kimmel weighs in...
Isn’t Jimmy suppose to be sitting in the corner? Go back and sit in the corner.
typical LEFTIST: PROJECTING the evils of HIS side and HIS state(s),onto Red States.
It’s ok. Maybe his comments will keep his fans and people like them away from our state.
His show is based out of Los Angeles.
