I never understood how a U.S. military draft ever became an accepted institution in an allegedly free country.
Amen, citizens should not be plucked against their will by a despotic government to fight wars, especially non-declared wars/vague definitions of what exactly victory entails, half way across the country with no intention of quickly ending.
We are freemen, not cogs for a Congress and Executive Branch to meddle with.
If directly attacked, you won’t need a draft to figure out proper action.
When the country actually institutes the draft, then there will be serious discussion on the matter.

During the Vietnam War, manpower was so short (few volunteers) that even the Marines resorted to “DRAFTING” young men into their service. And, many of them died. Hundreds of body bags coming home each month when I joined the USNR.

You mean you have issues with the draft being used to provide an endless supply of young men for open ended wars and far flung military adventures with no exit strategies? How else are we going to serve and protect the interests of the elites if we don’t do this? /sarc
