Voting rights are threatened across the US and Trump allies are vying to control elections in multiple states. Can US democracy survive the post-Trump onslaught?
If Donald Trump’s inaugural address can be summed up in two words – “American carnage” – Joe Biden’s might be remembered for three: “Democracy has prevailed.”
Republican resistance: dissenting Texas leads the anti-Biden charge Read more The new president, speaking from the spot where just two weeks earlier a pro-Trump mob had stormed the US Capitol, promised that the worst was over in a battered, bruised yet resilient Washington.
But now, four and a half months later the alarm bells are sounding on American democracy again. Even as the coronavirus retreats, the pandemic of Trump’s “big lie” about a stolen election spreads, manifest in Republicans’ blocking of a commission to investigate the insurrection. And state after state is imposing new voting restrictions and Trump allies are now vying to run future election themselves.

That’s because we’re not a democracy but a constitutional republic; the only one like it in the world.
And state after state is imposing new voting restrictions
Points which should be noted :
1. New voting “restrictions”, in many cases, are simply returning to the pre-Covid voting regulations, such as returning to former ways of handling absentee or mail in voting.
2. Voter ID, which the liberals claim is discriminatory, has been upheld by the Supreme Court.
3. Major league baseball, in their idiotic move of the All Star Game out of Georgia, moved the game to a state with more restrictive voter laws than the laws enacted by Georgia. Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred apparently feels the need to pander to liberal loudmouths who falsely said the Georgia law was a return to Jim Crow.
Democrats only believe in democracy when they are allowed to steal elections.
“Voting rights are threatened” Yes they are, damn-sure being violated. My vote was thrown away because of all the criminal frauds.
We never were a democracy.
We’re a Constitutional Republic.
“That’s because we’re not a democracy but a constitutional republic; the only one like it in the world.”
****
We were a constitutional republic.
Let's hope so.
No one is stopping ones from voting, just do it honest and legally.
Unlike the panthers that stood outside a voting place with guns, intimidating voters. That’s democracy? HELL NO! Cheating, throwing ballots away? HELL NO!
And more ways.
Voting restrictions? Like only actual voters with I.D. voting?
Yeah, that sounds like a threat to Democrats, not a threat to democracy.
Democrats and media water-carriers only USE THE WORD democracy when they are allowed to steal elections.
The huge irony is that these comments come from residents of countries with much stricter voting laws than the U.S. seems to have, and where the vote count is probably within 0.1% of being real. A double irony is that with that safety net in place, the citizens of those countries freely choose globalism.
Since y’all don’t, this voting by the dead and the duplicate identity has to cover for now. All hail the Dominion of Lies.
So long as we’re still armed, we are.
Nice truck.
We’ve never been a democracy. We are a Republic. Our founders knew that all democracies from the past, failed.
Important to understand that leftists don’t “argue” or try to persuade from a point of good intentions or spirit of compromise, and it is folly to try and meet them on those terms.
Their premises are unerringly wrong. First, and this is crucial, Voting is not a right. You could look it up. I know this is a tall order for a “journalist” but hey, a fella can dream.
And from an historical standpoint the national political structure was specifically designed from the ground up to very consciously and deliberately preclude “Democracy”, precisely because of what we’ve been observing Democrats do for decades.
Mob rule, terror, anarchy, and communistic attitudes are absolute poison to any society.
1500 political prisoners in solitary for the Jan6th event is a good start.
The republic died on January 6.
Pray that this is an interregnum.
Even if every voter is a legal voter, unless we go back to dumb voting machines elections will continue to be stolen.
