The FBI expected no pushback, if they ask cell providers for information on every active phone and owner in a geo radius they get that immediately.

or if they ask for a complete facebook history, and that of all friends, no problem

They probably already have info from all the other news orgs that published the story or they would have objected as well

I’m old enough to remember when law authorities wanted to get your library book check-out records. I think most, if not all, libraries said “No way.”

My money says the FBI was going there to PLANT EVIDENCE on an Innocent Person and he got the drop on them. I can think of no other plausible reason for wanting this info.

Don’t trust anyone who gets a Federal government paycheck whose desk is within 15 miles of the Lincoln Memorial.

Clicking on a story between two times somehow makes you a suspect in a crime? I can’t wait to find out the reasoning here.

My guess is people in the criminal world are getting ever more sophisticated and anyone who somehow did something knowingly illegal probably used a VPN.

Reading about the original incident leaves a lot of questions. Why would this guy, with no criminal record, go postal before he even knows what’s going on?

And it’s the British press. American press has no interest in corruption.

The FBI can go to hell. I doubt I read the article, since I do not visit USA Today, but sometimes I might see something on FR and click on the link. Should anyone that visits a media site be tracked down by the FBI? This is a slippery slope. What’s next after this? A regular download of IP addresses, then a live feed of IP addresses so they know what you are looking at real time. (Although I think the NSA already does that, and the NSA has to go to hell too. You hear that your MF’ers at the NSA?) The time is now to stop the progress in privacy violation and general freedoms and liberties. Stop it. Reverse it. Take it way back to the 1790’s.

America is going down...

... as the anti-American/anti-God left has sought for so long.

Members of the FBI are the ringleaders of child porn. With the highest officials at the top of the chain. I’m looking at you Comey and Wrey. /double spit.

Chasing down child pornographers? If that is what they are doing, then their request should be honored. I don't like to see the media protect people, maybe their own, from facing justice.

And 1st amendment gives right to article, no one is objecting, maybe a 3rd party to review the records to share specifically what the FBI is looking for, maybe to identify the dead guy's partners?

Govt agencies always eventually move into illegal actions if they are allowed.
