I don't usually watch the network news, but I was at a laundromat (our washer's broken) and they had the news on. I saw an interview with the kid's dad.

My great, great, great grandfather was shot and killed at the breakfast table by his son who according the a news story, was “subject to fits of insanity.”
It was a family secret until my sister did our genealogy. He was the twin to my great great grandmother.
He had the same last name as a kid I went to school with and I had forgotten about a little episode I had with him where he was saying something about a crazy person in our family having killed someone. I thought he was just some other kid trying to freak me out but I guess it wasn’t a secret in his family. Technically that means me and that other kid are related in some way.
It’s Pilgrim country and they married into each other’s clans back in the 1600s, 1700s. Lack of options for a little while. Lots of Mayflower passenger surnames still in the town I grew up in. Rogers, Alden, Sampson etc. Never met a Standish or a Brewster though. My ancestors married into the Pilgrim lines a few times and since they inter married, we have 12 lines going back to the Mayflower passengers.
and us Northerners used to joke about Alabamans and Mississippians being inbred. LOL
