Why is the House minority leader more concerned about what Democrats think?
Kevin McCarthy’s mouth does two things: it kisses Donald Trump’s hand and it emits denouncements of his constituents.
After Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene recently likened what she considers COVID-19-based discrimination to the treatment of Jews during the Holocaust, the House minority leader swooped down bearing talons of condemnation. ‘Marjorie is wrong, and her intentional decision to compare the horrors of the Holocaust with wearing masks is appalling,’ he wrote. ‘Let me be clear: the House Republican Conference condemns this language.’
Whatever you might think of Greene’s comments, it’s hard to imagine a Democrat as eager as McCarthy to smite one of his own. Moreover, Greene’s remarks, boomerish though they may be, reflect the frustrations many Americans feel about the emerging two-tier post-pandemic society. But these are provincial concerns for McCarthy, who seems to resent the provinces above all.
In an interview with Fox News last August, he declared, ‘there’s no place for QAnon in the Republican party’. McCarthy had honed in on the real problem — after months of destructive and deadly rioting fueled by leftist agitators.
Ironically, that denunciatory statement was probably the first instance many Republicans had even heard of the fringe movement. By that time, the demographic with the most knowledge of QAnon were wealthy, educated Democrats fed a paranoiac’s diet of cable news.
Why does McCarthy seem more attuned to the fear and loathing of Democrats than to his Republican constituency?
Enter repugnant GOP pollster Frank Luntz.
It’s hard to think of an individual more anathematic than Luntz, whose primary function is to create as much distance between what Republican voters want and what GOP lawmakers do. He bragged in 1993, ‘I act like a Democrat.’

We have to stop re-electing Assistant Democrats.
No we don’t. Who will step up? Until that happens we’re wasting our time.
New party or simply accept the progs have won.
Kevin likes to kick people when they are down it seems, IF he feels like he won’t get flak for it that is. He’s a fair weather ‘friend’. The left have been after MTG steady because she is a warrior, and Kevin thought he had an opportunity to play ‘holier than thou’ by condemning her along with his buddies on the left.
Shameful display by him! The one thing that separates the left fro the right is how fast the right will turn on their own and eat them if they smell weakness, while the left never ever abandon their own UNLESS it is their political advantage to do so. Too many rinos are far too quick to side with the left in attacking the right
McCarthy was part of the trifecta of Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy. Kevin is the only political survivor. Like the other two, who looked so great compared with the Obama squad, he is a RINO supreme.
He said nothing for a week, and then came down with a harsh statement. Probably he was waiting for the focus group results.
I think of him as I think about pence and the rest of the back staggers both sides of the isle,
They are
Undocumented Communusts
I bad mouthed the AI known as Alexa to its face/ microphone when she first hit the web.
And occasionally have tussels with it/autocorrect since /-)..
McCarthy sat on a bill as a CA legislator that would address the rampant H1b fraud by big tech employers. He showed his true colors as a RINO then.
It is long past time for the Republican base to punish McCarthy by voting against them in the primaries and, if they survive, voting for their opponent in the general.
McCarthy strikes me as disingenous at best. A genuine phony.
Voting for Assistant Democrats still loses the country.
I don’t like him, but Trump supports him. Mark Levin also has him on as a guest, so he’s not as bad as McConnell.
Replace Kevin with Marjorie. Problem solved. New leadership and new blood.
Isn’t it better to just step over a pile of dog excrement rather than step on it or talk about it?
Leading up to the 2108 election, McCarthy was airing adds claiming he would repeal and replace Obamacare.
He didn’t do a darn thing about it when he was the Speaker of the House and the GOP had the Senate.
McCarthy is a lying sack of shit.
McCarthy was never Speaker. It was Paul Ryan (Zero’s Cabana Boy) who was the last GOP Speaker.
