Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) has reaffirmed her support for the filibuster, saying it “protects the democracy of our nation” and forces bipartisan solutions.
Sinema’s remarks came during a press conference in Tucson, Arizona, on Tuesday as she explained why she missed a procedural vote to establish a January 6 commission to investigate the violence at the U.S. Capitol at the beginning of this year.
“As folks in Arizona know, I’ve long been a supporter of the filibuster because it is a tool that protects the democracy of our nation, rather than allowing our country to ricochet wildly every two to four years back and forth between policies,” Sinema told reporters, stressing the need for bipartisanship:
The idea of the filibuster was created by those who came before us in the United States Senate to create comity and to encourage senators to find bipartisanship and work together. And while there are some that do not believe bipartisanship is possible, I think I’m a daily example that bipartisanship is possible. So to those who say that we must make a choice between the filibuster and ‘X,’ I say, this is a false choice.
The reality is that when you have a system that is not working effectively — and I would think that most would agree that the Senate is not a particularly well-oiled machine, right? The way to fix that is to fix your behavior, not to eliminate the rules or change the rules, but to change the behavior.
....
Further pressed on her stance, Sinema said the filibuster “was created as a tool to bring together members of different parties to find compromise and coalition.”

Looks to me like she is just trying to milk wealthy Democrat lib gentry types for more contributions.
I give her credit today for not being a hypocrite like the rest of her party.
She dresses less like a streetwalker than she used to . . .
We live in a Constitutional Republic darlin. Not a democracy.
But, but...she’s a moderate! A sensible centrist! So why isn’t the media and left groups fawning over her like they did to McCain and Collins, Romney, Sasse, and Cassidy? Why are moderate Republicans good but Dem moderates are treated with disdain?
Sometimes I wonder if Sinema is a semi-undercover conservative in the Rat party.
Sinema and Manchin are running interference for about 10 other Dem Senators who don’t want the “woke” agenda and don’t want to have to vote on it. If it came up for a vote and they voted against it the anarchists traitors would primary them.
One never knows....
She has commercials that are running all the time about putting the people first and not lobbyists and special interest groups.
You know we’re in trouble when we have to rely on WV grifter and a blonde bisexual bombshell to save the nation. Especially since the GOP side of the aisle is rife with traitors as it is.
For the love of God, and therefore America, please give the Stupid Party the testicular fortitude to rid the Senate of Mark Kelly (AZ) and Reverend Warlock (GA) next November.
Agreed!
Not for a moment.
bump
LOL!
Well said.
“Especially since the GOP side of the aisle is rife with traitors as it is.”
True, but on the filibuster issue, the Sinema and Manchin wouldn’t even matter if even 2 RINOs joined the Democrats. The problem for the Democrats is that NO REPUBLICANS have joined them on trashing the filibuster.
What’s up with Sinema? In the 90’s she was a Communist Party sympathizer (see: www.keywiki.org, under her name, from CP publications). Is this transformation into a “moderate” real or a political ploy to keep her Senate seat (which she won by a good margin despite her early record).
“Sometimes I wonder if Sinema is a semi-undercover conservative in the Rat party.”
She voted to convict Trump twice. She tells the media to downplay that and they write about her purple hair.
“For the love of God, and therefore America, please give the Stupid Party the testicular fortitude to rid the Senate of Mark Kelly (AZ) and Reverend Warlock (GA) next November.”
We tried voting. Any other suggestions?
