Former “Hardball” host Chris Matthews said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” that he departed the network because he “remarked on somebody’s appearance in the makeup room.”
As Mediaite pointed out, in March 2020, Laura Bassett claimed that Matthews “inappropriately flirted” and made her feel uncomfortable before appearing on his show.

Must have been a pretty lewd arse comment(s) there, MatthewsIdiot, yeah?
it was most likely something incredibly innocent that some leftist shrew blew out of proportion.
I call BS. If that was the comment, they would not have fired him. There is much more to this story.
Was it about a tingling he got up his leg?
“Must have been a pretty lewd arse comment(s) there, MatthewsIdiot, yeah?”
I think it’s probably just the opposite. It’s a sin to even tell a woman in the work place that her dress is pretty or her hair looks nice — what was fine in the real world 20 years ago. I despise Matthews, but I’m leaning toward the woman being an oversensitive bitch.
Ritual suicide is the only acceptable penance. Get busy Chrissy.
But, while making public remarks, it's okay to tell a little girl that she looks like she's 19 sitting there with her legs crossed.
Do pretty women really object to being told they’re pretty? They didn’t in my youth. Quite the contrary. What a bizarre turn our culture has taken.
I remember Chris Matthews.
I thought Chrissy was gay.
It must have been the thrill he felt up his leg.
Nice sweater!
Have you seen Laura Bassett? He HAD to have complimented her shoes or something else because if he complimented her looks, he definitely was inappropriately flirting on the clock!
He probably said something like “hey, you don’t look like complete sh!t today,” maybe THAT was the “compliment” that got him terminated.
LOL!
I hate Chrissy Matthews, but this culture is out of control. If some good looking or powerful man had said, “Hey sweet cheeks. Nice rack” she would have swooned (with swooning in the 21st century being oral sex in the closet).
“Do pretty women really object to being told they’re pretty? They didn’t in my youth.”
No, they don’t. It’s the ugly ones who object. Rush was correct when he connected the feminist movement to ugly women. Shoot, in the ‘70s when a guy said, “You have a great set of pegs”, no way was I offended. LOL!
Sounds like an excuse to fire an old lefty who was not getting ratings.
Bassett wrote, “In 2016, right before I had to go on his show and talk about sexual assault allegations against Donald Trump, Matthews looked over at me in the makeup chair next to him and said, ‘Why haven’t I fallen in love with you yet? When I laughed nervously and said nothing, he followed up to the makeup artist. ‘Keep putting makeup on her. I’ll fall in love with her.'”
Even I laughed at that.
