Successful test of 'Trojan Horse' cancer drug offers hope for an end to chemotherapy: Molecule poses as 'ideal prey' for 'greedy' malignant cells that eat it 'without realising it's toxic'
Daily Mail ^

Scientists at the University of Edinburgh combined the tiny cancer-killing molecule called SeNBD with a chemical food to trick the harmful cells into ingesting it.

Cancerous cells are 'greedy' and need to consume high amounts of food for energy and they typically ingest more than healthy cells, the experts said.

By coupling SeNBD with a chemical food compound it becomes the 'ideal prey for harmful cells' which ingest it 'without being alerted to its toxic nature'.Scientists hope the treatment will boost survival rates among cancer patients and spare many from damaging chemotherapy.

So far, it has only been used on glioblastoma, the most common brain cancer.

SeNBD is also a light-activated photosensitiser, meaning it kills cells only after it is turned on by visible light.

This novel treatment will no doubt be rushed to market in 12 months an the strength of Zebra fish testing, maybe with some really limited human trials which show something positive.

Since it might actually do something we should mandate it for all persons 12 years and up, the light from their phones can zap those glioblastomas before they even start.

It’s becoming more and more clear that using the healthy cells to attack the cancer cells is the way to go. Until now, the body has not attacked cancer cells since the body believes they are natural and not invaders from outside. This is very promising.

They can kill those cancerous cells by using mRNA technology to produce cancer killing antibodies.

One day cancer will be as treatable as bacterial infections.

Agreed—this sounds very promising.

In theory.
Remember when CAR-T was hailed as a miracle, until they ran into cytokine storms.

Things always seem to be more complicated to put in to mass practice than the first breathless press releases.

The first breathless press releases enable a round of funding that pays the bills, keeps people employed, makes the shareholder happy and might, just might, lead to a profitable and successful treatment or even an actual cure.

I thought everyone has cancerous cells and the body naturally fights them off until it can’t.

I think the breakthrough discovery of the lipid nanoparticle was the crucial technology that made the mRNA the messenger that targets the correct cellular address. I am so thrilled at this technology, I consider it a game changer like man’s first step on the moon.

Now, now, for some people who are facing terminal illness, this may be a last hope. Nothing should be rushed into use, and sometimes it takes years for side effects to show up. However, if it’s “try this” or die, many people would want to try.

If the cancer is inside your brain, how are they going to activate the drug with visible light?

You f*ing Love Scienceâ„¢

BFD.

I know better than to trust Democrats, Bureaucrats, and Press releases by people who stand to make billions but who are immune from liability.

...still less when they have been actively working on bioweapons research with Communist China.

Chemotherapy can kill small undetected metastases. This phototherapy can only kill known and reachable tumors.
