DC students eagerly sign fake petition to cancel Memorial Day over ‘American Imperialism’

Some students and others walking around Georgetown in Washington, DC, were happy to sign a fake petition calling for Memorial Day to be canceled because it glorifies “American Imperialism.”

One young man signed the petition, authored by the conservative news site and higher-education watchdog Campus Reform, saying he thinks Memorial Day is “a celebration of US imperialism and colonialism.”

“It’s not an attack on any individual but more of a system,” he said.

Campus Reform interviewed the people who signed the petition in a video published on the outlet’s website in advance of the Memorial Day weekend.

The young man said he became anti-American after going to college.

“I didn’t really think in this way until I went to college and I took women’s and gender studies classes and that put me on this path where I’m like, ‘yeah, f–k the US.'”

Some of these woke college students think the bombing of Japan happened before Pearl Harbor. They think Pearl Harbor was justified because it was in retaliation for us bombing Japan! Unbelievable.

I agree. Years ago my daughter had a biology teacher who often talked about our country in a very negative way. A biology teacher! What the heck does biology have to do with history???

It's becoming more difficult to distinguish Babylon Bee articles from straight news stories.

American universities are nothing but leftist indoctrination laboratories. Send your kids to trade schools.

Most soldiers do not determine policy, they just fight the wars that are the result of it.

We owe our respect to those who fought in those wars regardless of why they were fought

Not just a prank. Next year the real thing.

Or possibly re-purposing Memorial Day by naming it after George Floyd.

At least when I was in college, over 40 years ago at ESU, the results would have been EXACTLY the same.

The difference now is that back then, the numbskulls signing petitions like these would have had to ‘do their time’ for 20 years or so before having the kind of money and power needed to destroy the US from the inside (and by then, enough of them had families and therefore grew up).

Now we have tech, where these numbskulls reign over the country, to the point of ‘canceling’ the President of the United States, while even being defended by at least some people on our side (and even here) saying: “it’s the free market dude, they should have the power”...along with the Democrats lapping up our idiocy in letting this happen.

So, yea, it would be good for people on our side to STEP UP and put an end to letting these toddlers rule over us, and that begins with college, but we never gave a crap when this started or during the 60 years since, so why should I have any hope something happens now?

There are many claims about the origins of Memorial Day celebrations of US military killed in action, or died of wounds, etc. All of them stem from the US Civil War, and the following fits what I was told as a child:

“In their 2014 book The Genesis of the Memorial Day Holiday, Dr. Richard Gardiner and Daniel Bellware concluded that credit for the origins of Memorial Day should likely rest with a group of women in Columbus, Georgia known as the Ladies Memorial Association, who beginning in 1866 held an annual observance originally called “Memorial Day,” then subsequently referred to as “Confederate Memorial Day” after (as referenced above) northerners co-opted the event in 1868 and established their own Memorial Day.”

If the old saw abut ignorance and bliss is correct, today’s collegians are one happy bunch.

That’s good, but it would have been better to ask if New Year’s Day should be moved to October 6 because of cultural imperialism. You would have gotten a majority voting FOR. Or if Boxing Day should be on February 17. Or if Victoria Day should be cancelled because Victoria was the name of Columbus’s favorite dog.

As silly as the Di-Hydrogen Monoxide ban petition a few years back.

It is fun to see such “brilliant” students actually show that they are dumb as dirt.

Somewhere long ago college became a survival mechanism for the otherwise useless and incompetent.

Send a donkey to college and they send you a trained ass back.

Why would a guy take women’s and gender studies?

Can’t be to get laid, because those classes are typically chock full of man hating bull dykes.

Perhaps he has some “Mommy Dearest” issues, and his mother has his testicles locked away in her purse?
