Republicans in the Senate held together to thwart attempts to form a commission to investigate the trespassing and minor property damage that happened at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. We should all refuse to call it an insurrection or even a riot at this point if for no other reason than to frustrate the left—in particular, leading Democrats like this bitter former presidential candidate who keeps lying to her followers:
An angry mob attacked our Capitol, our lawmakers, and our election.
They killed a policeman.
And Republican leaders would rather we all not know more about what happened.
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) May 28, 2021
It is well established that the only person who died that day due to violence at the Capitol was Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed veteran and Trump supporter. The identity of the Capitol Police officer who shot her remains unknown, unlike officers in the past year who have shot suspects to save their own lives or the lives of others. Officer Sicknick’s death was used as a prop by anti-law-enforcement Democrats in the wake of January 6th. His death was incorrectly included in the bogus second impeachment of President Trump.
If leading Democrats are still willing to make this kind of debunked assertion, the goal of their commission is crystal clear. It is to persecute their political enemies and keep President Trump and his supporters front and center as cover for their radical agenda and the repeated failures of the Biden administration. It would also bolster their fever dreams about the right-wing violence the DHS and DOJ keep talking about in the absence of any credible threats. Republicans are absolutely right to deny them the opportunity.

In before the trolls and doom and gloomers who are always swift to turn any positive into a negative.
Republicans don’t
Want to be exposed
for their part in
The Communist takeover.
Yes,good news. And now it’s on to HR1.
Since Democrats still control Congress, they will still be able to hold committee hearings, and do grandstanding over this issue.
Even if they don’t have an official commission to do their so called investigation, they will still get lots of airtime on liberal news channels, for their hearings into the alleged crimes against humanity of January 6th.
It's not gloom and doom to point out just how short-sighted this decision was. Because there will be hearings, just in the House instead of in a separate commission. The commission would have had equal representation, Democrat and Republican. The House committees will have majority Democrat. Subpoenas would have had to been agreed to by both sides with the commission. The House committee Democrats can subpoena whoever they want. The commission had a hard end date of December 31st. The House committees can run as long as they want, up to the 2022 elections if they think it's to the Democrats advantage. The commission could even have brought up Ashlee Babbitt and what happened to her. The House committees will never let questions on her see the light of day. So by all means cheer on the death of the commission, but be prepared to watch the Democrats Benghazi the Republicans as best they can.
It is a complete kangaroo court. They had no choice.
Have you been in a coma the past couple years? None of the supposed committee niceties you describe would have happened. Not a chance.
Senate ‘Pubbies wanted to avoid at all costs looking like they were defending Trump. Only the naive see that as a principled position worthy of praise.
There seems to be a great deal of that here lately.
WHA happened??

“We are living in perilous times. When a modern democracy deploys forces of intimidation—whether government, corporate media or cultural institutions—to promote the ruling majority’s propaganda, it is time for good people to stand up and object.”
Butt, butt, butt—— ‘for the people’. 🐂💨💩
Positives? The proof is in the pudding. Sunshine pump all you want but the facts of the stolen election won’t be changing: Trump is playing golf and Xiden is he WH.
The commission could even have brought up Ashlee Babbitt and what happened to her.
LOL. The GOP controlled the Senate during TWO Democrat hoax impeachments. Did they substantively engage the CIA Hoaxblower or anything else of importance ONE time? Nope. Another Never Trump “commission” would be the same. Sorry.
A vicious quote from the witch Hillary.... And I'm still trying to lower my blood pressure this week. Not nice of her.
Again an example of why Bill O'Reilly was right that the loss of a free media was the key to our socialist takeover woes. No one will say "they didn't kill a cop---he died of medical causes." And so on. Or Ashlii Babbitt was an unarmed woman shot in the back and killed. It's all a secret to most people. Ask some today.
The great unwashed Americans know nothing. And they smell really bad, too.
Trolls and pearl-clutchers are pretty much dominating this site now. It used to be the premier site for news and intelligent conversation. Now it's degenerated into a cesspool of negativity and despair with each poster trying to be more cynical, pessimistic, and negative than the last. It's pretty disgusting.
Hey, Hillary, you POS. Can you tell me who shot Ashli Babbitt? Can you tell me who the Antifa/BLM folks were who were wearing MAGA hats/shirts? And, can you tell me who funded these folks? Go f yourself.
When it come to the Republicans in Congress, that's not very hard to do. These are the same people who certified a potato, along with unlimited voter fraud on January 6th.
