At least one witness has been told to prepare to give evidence before a grand jury investigating former President Donald Trump and his business, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The development is the latest sign that the Manhattan district attorney's office is racing into the next phase of its investigation and will soon present evidence to members of a grand jury to consider bringing charges.
Trump insiders say the move is politically motivated and that the former president is unperturbed by the threat.

At least the Democrats actually reach the point where they go to trial, even when their case is laughable. Republicans never actually take their targets to trial at all. They just pretend to look into it.
As a reminder, most grand juries are told only one side of the case and then asked if there is enough evidence to indict. Particularly in political cases, it’s a very low bar to clear. If the prosecutor fails to indict, then it’s a clear sign he’s got nothing.
This is so obvious a child can see it…If he’s trying to play this out in the press with leaks like this it truly means he has absolutely positively nothing if he was tight lipped about his investigation I could see him trying to make a case but this is ridiculous and silly

This is Manhattan. A laughably stupid case against DJT will probably result in a conviction. They have laughably stupid and political juries. D’s try all of their stupid political cases in DC, NY, SF, or Austin.

All of Trump’s lawyers, tax accountants that do his taxes for him, and other staff that handle his empire’s business affairs. There are many layers of Trump worker bees that Cyrus Vance and his henchmen will have to plow through in order to get to the top dog. Trump doesn’t do his own taxes, his legal eagles and tax preparers do them, and they search for all legal loopholes as it is their job to do so.
Trump like all wealthy folks do, depends on his legal staffers and would not sign off on anything he thought was illegal as he knows the IRS would come after him in a nanosecond. They already have; he has been audited every year for about the past 12 or so years. So if there were any mistakes or potential problems with his taxes, they have already been examined thoroughly by the IRS. It won’t be easy for Vance and Co. to be able to chop off the head of the King.
As the statute of limitations on the State level to press most any charges of tax irregularities re Trump’s taxes have already passed, according to a legal expert that appeared on NewsMax discussing this matter, Vance is a day late and a dollar short, and this lawyer says any charges would thus be dismissed in a court of law. Unless of course, it’s before corrupt NY judges, in which case any charges would have to work its way up the court food chain and ultimately be dismissedby a higher court as frivolous and not timely.
The travesty to me is that SCOTUS sold out and told Vance that he could have access to Trump's tax records to try and find a crime.
Probable cause has always been the Constitutional foundation for a subpoena; fishing expeditions - especially for political reasons - were right out!
We have lost the Supreme Court and American Constitutional justice... symptoms increasingly everywhere.

A. Last night’s abc news jonathon kkkarl reported on this and never even mentioned the charges.
B. The dollar amount of the alleged crime of having deducted the tuition paid for some Trump cronie kids private school tuition instead of assigning it as income to him probably amounts to about 1/1,024 of the amount being spent to pursue this.
