When Everyone's Wrong in the Debate over Prostitution
American Thinker. com ^ | May 26, 2021 | E. Jeffrey Ludwig

Traditionally, an activity of female bondage and corruption is now being called by some an expression of female liberation. This writer received an advertisement from Oxford University Press offering me a complimentary copy of a book on a supposedly "hot issue" in philosophy entitled Debating Sex Work. The publisher appealed to me to request this book, which outlines two positions held by two different females philosophers regarding the "world's oldest profession." One position supports what is called the "Nordic Model," whereby the female prostitute (euphemistically called "sex worker" rather than "whore") is de-criminalized, but the buyer of her "services" (her body to be used for self-gratification) is criminalized. This has been tried in various parts of Scandinavia. The other point of view is total decriminalization of the entire transaction. At bottom, this criminalization is an infringement on human freedom. Intercourse with whomever, wherever, for free or for money, is apparently the quintessential freedom or cornerstone of human liberty.

There is a third view not presented in this book: that both of the above views are wrong. The woman and the john (her customer) are totally immoral, and their behaviors deserve to be deemed criminal and to be punished.

Prostitution is wrong from every angle. It is using a woman as a toy (same as if one purchased a sex toy at a store). A woman, like a man, is made in the image of God. There is also the Golden Rule: do to others as you would have others do to you. Do you want your wife, sister, or daughter to be making a few extra bucks on the side by selling her body? Further, there is an antiquated custom (sarcasm intended — it's not antiquated) called the sanctity of marriage,

Nice summation of the situation.
However, ‘The world’s oldest profession’, biblically, is farming, as God sent Adam out to till the soil of the earth.

No, farming is the oldest. Prostitution isn’t even mentioned until the 38th chapter of Genesis

Thank you for posting this. Prostitution, especially it's legalization, is anti-family and pro-slavery.

Some women like to be used as toys. They actually enjoy it. Some men also.

This is another attempt at a one-size-fits-all policy.

Where is individual liberty in this? Where is natural law?

Sex is labor. You have the right to sell your labor for whatever you can negotiate.

Prohibition does not work. Never did, never will. It only empowers gov’t and those connected to gov’t.

Wow! People were prostituting themselves before Adam, the first person, farmed. Who knew?

Set up a video camera and it becomes a “porno”

Legal is most jurisdictions, unless you need a permit “tax”

I've tried to absorb this article, but something that always nags me is the over simplistic element no one seems to want to promote.

Whether you agree or not, imo .... men are wired to desire a woman's body.

The centuries' old complaint is that women lose interest in men .... men to not lose interest in women.

Just as the commies have learned to use our laws against us Americans, some women have used our laws against men, thus;

The man is not the genesis of prostitution

If you read a good history of Prohibition you discover that 1/2 the politicians were in it for the corruption which was designed in from the beginning. It wasn’t something invented later on. It should come as no surprise the politicians already knew the angle on how they and their insiders were going to make a killing off of it. The only losers were those who enjoyed high quality booze and now couldn’t get any. The country was awash in illegal rot gut.

Well, to your point, when a great body of women refuse to marry and then seek destruction of the family by divorce and in general fear such things as city water and child birth , why is having sex with a prostitute immoral?

A great many women eschew the moral family

Sometimes the woman prostitude is a sex slave. Other times the woman is making her own individual choises. I am against sex slavery. If a woman can chose how her hair will be styled, and what her clothing will be, and she is of legal age,,, then she could chose to sell her body for money or for room and board, or for whatever reason she chooses and with whom she pleases. Of course, she could wind up dead as a result. A risky business for sure. Freedom is not always without risks.

NOW founder Kate Millett advocated promoting prostitution, pornography, promiscuity, and homosexuality. She wanted to “smash the patriarchy” and “make revolution” and “take away his power”. She also wanted to challenge the age of consent laws and advocated sex between women and girls.

The same is true of prostitution. In most big cities, escorts, sex massage parlors and prostitution rings operate in full sight of authorities. But they do nothing about these activities, despite laws against them.

We all know that politicians and law enforcement are bribed to look the other way. If one gets out of hand, then they get closed down so they can have a photo opportunity to be used at election time.

If you oppose the minimum wage or price controls, then you should oppose banning the sale of sex labor as well. It is a human right for a man or woman to sell their services in a mutually agreeable manner.

In Texas they are raising the age at which a woman can start stripping to 21. They can still vote and sign contracts at 18.

-——sell her body -——

Point of order:

A prostitute does not sell her Body. At most, she rents it. Mostly she sells a service that includes discretion

Morality as preached by the church, is nothing more than people trying to have power over your life, in the same way politicians preach environmentalism.

There is no difference.

The constant in life is that some people want power and wealth over others and they will use any leverage to get it.
