Chip and Joanna Gaines of HGTV "Fixer Upper" fame donated $1,000 on Wednesday to Shannon Braun's campaign for the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (GCISD) School Board - a candidate who is against critical race theory, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Critical race theory is the notion that traditional liberal approaches to dealing with racial inequalities need to be reconsidered because laws favor white supremacy.

Braun, who is Chip Gaines's sister, is running in the June 5 runoff election against incumbent trustee Mindy McClure.

...

In 2017, it was reported that the Gaines family attended a church known for its anti-LGBTQ+ views, according to BuzzFeed.

Neither the Gaines family nor Braun's team has responded to the reports

The left may try to cancel them over this. They wont care that it was a (relatively) small donation to his sister. And, of course, the author had to remind people that they attended one of those bad churches even though that isn’t relevant to the article.

They’re going to try to call the Asian wife a white supremacist aren’t they?

They won’t care. They have their farm and good well mannered kids. They made enough money to live comfortably for the rest of their lives.

The Discovery Network of Channels will drop theM in, 3,2,1...but they knew this before they did this. This couple chose PRINCIPAL OVER MONEY. God Bless Them. Many many more need to take a Stand. There are things FAR GREATER THAN CREATURE COMFORT AND MONEY. Christ Jesus asked the wealthy man who wanted to join HIS cause what can I do to join you. Christ Jesus replied, Give up your wealth and come with me. The wealthy man declined. It looks like chip and Johana Gaines did not decline. This stand, if accurately reported will be the End of their tenure on the Discovery Network of Channels. The Discovery Network is as LEFTIST as you can get.

Cancel them ?!?!? There’s a 30 day wait to get a reservation at their restaurant - they almost single handily brought a business boom to Waco. I wouldn’t worry about them being canceled.

Since Rush’s passing, I’ve been listening to other podcasts. Jesse Kelly’s is really growing on me.

He had a great point today that it’s not enough just to block CRT, which is necessary but temporary since the commies are relentless. He compared it to chasing off someone who’s vowed to kill you. Yes, it was necessary, but they’ll come back.

He also talked about the Japanese in WW2 how they were fighting in hopes to just get a mutually beneficial peace agreement and instead we nuked them and offered them unconditional surrender.

Anyway, his bottom line was saying that CRT not only needs to be abolished but replaced with Pro-America courses. We’re constantly thinking about just stopping the communists as the goal instead of wiping them out completely.

They have their own Network......Magnolia Network. Joanna has a cooking show on it. I imagine other shows are on there. I haven’t looked. They’ll be ok and God will protect them and Chip will protect his family.....we’ll soon be carrying without a permit......just like the bad guys do now. Bring ‘em on.....we ain’t skeered.

I’m glad the Gaines are great Americans. Wife wants to visit Waco, to go to their businesses. They control their network (Magnolia), so it would be pretty hard for leftist to cancel them...

The Left is trying to spin CRT as just teaching about slavery. See, this is what they do. They try to find a false middle ground and force you to accept their premise. They already did it to Texas, you had articles whining about Texas "banning" teaching of slavery.

I don't know why states just don't simply opt out of the federal education system. Just turn down any federal dollars and opt out of any federal education programs. If you need the money, then raise the state sales or gas tax or make some cuts, it's not that hard. Dept of Ed is blatantly unconstitutional and our schools didn't turn to crap until it was established in the late 1970s.

The Magnolia Network is owned by the Discovery-owned network of companies. This is the same network of Companies that comprise the Oprah Network, among others. They will be dumped and attacked unless they retract their position.

Well, I don’t watch their shows but it isn’t going to be about their own show or network. It’s going to be about who’s going to carry them.

Cable, satellite, streaming. All controlled by the Left. If they’re against the Left, the Left will get rid of them.

It’s the same way the Muslims are pushing Islam in schools.

First they say it’s about social studies and world history, not about religion which they know can’t be taught. Then they teach a very, very soft, non violent version of the religion of peace.

I moved my teen daughter to a private Christian high school after the teachers’ unions at her public school decided to stay closed all year due to covid.

She had a great year. She is staying even though her public school “promises” in person education next year. I don’t trust them at all.

I was thrilled to see her school offered the “Patriots History of the US” (the opposite of the “Peoples History” of Zinn), but later found out the AP version is fairly leftist as the public school’s is. It turns out that to qualify for AP, the curriculum has to be somewhat leftist apparently, even in private schools.

We have a long battle ahead.

“In 2017, it was reported that the Gaines family attended a church known for its anti-LGBTQ+ views,...”

So following the Word of God is evil? (yes, it’s rhetorical)

Note how they use the term “anti-LGBTQ” and not “pro-God”.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. My wife used to be a big fan of "Fixer Upper", but now that most of the shows on HGTV are basically imitations of "Fixer Upper", she sort of got burned out on them. Discovery® has been pushing the Magnolia Network for a year. It was supposed to launch around the time the lockdowns started, but was postponed. They still advertise the heck out of it. Recently the Gaines' did an interview with The Oprah herself. Will Discovery drop one of their marquee acts?
