HARRISBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Republican lawmakers are introducing a bill that would ban Pennsylvania from requiring "vaccine passports."
Senate Bill 618 was introduced by Senators Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-28), Michele Brooks (R-50) and Judy Ward (R-30) and would prevent the state, counties, municipalities or school districts from requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
“Much like the COVID-19 vaccine is a choice for any Pennsylvanian to make based on their own personal decisions, the state or government at any level should not require every citizen to show proof of this vaccine,” Phillips-Hill said. “Our goal should be focused on getting the vaccine to those who want it, but not punish those individuals who have made a personal choice.”
The group cites “overwhelming individual privacy concerns and government intrusion,” for why they’re introducing the bill.
“Those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons or even for personal choice should not be discriminated against for making a decision that they believe is in the best interest of their health and safety,” Ward said. “This bill works to ensure that we are protecting our Constitutional rights and health privacy. After a year of being subjected to intrusive monitoring of their health and deliberate assaults on privacy, vaccine passports would be an unfathomable invasion into Pennsylvanian’s personal lives and private medical information.”
The bill notes that the vaccines being administered by the United States have been approved under Emergency Use Authorization and, under federal law, a person must be given the option to accept or refuse vaccines.
Gov. Tom Wolf has said his administration has no plans to require vaccine passports at the state level, but the Senators say they feel the bill would “ease concerns from local residents who are skeptical of sweeping government mandates” should the legislation become law.

A good first step.
A better first step (or second step) would be to prohibit businesses and non-profits (including sports arenas and concert venues) from requiring “vaccine passports” and/or negative tests.
Shopping yesterday I noted people still wearing masks others not. But clerks in many places I went - unmasked.
Same here. I also noticed no signs on doors telling ppl to mask up.
Oh we still have the mask up signs at entrances here in Pa......
I work in grocery stores as a Merchandiser. Most stores allow no masks as long as you’re vaccinated. My company still requires that we wear masks, otherwise I’d rip mine off and burn it.
..”Most stores allow no masks as long as you’re vaccinated”...
There’s no way they can tell who is and who isn’t.
Which is why when I’m working, I wear the mask, but if I’m in regular clothes and just shopping, I don’t wear the mask.
