The FAA is proposing the highest civil penalty it has ever recommended, $52,500, be levied against a man who belted a Delta flight attendant on two separate altercations on one flight. The passenger got things rolling on the flight from Honolulu to Seattle last December by trying to open the cockpit door. When the flight attendant tried to stop him, he got a fist in the face. Cabin crew and passengers managed to subdue the passenger and put zip tie restraints on him. The violent passenger wasn’t finished yet, however.
He managed to get one hand out of the zip ties and went after the flight attendant again, punching him in the face second time. Presumably he was subdued again and police met the plane in Seattle to take him to jail. The incident was the agency’s lead item in a list of badly behaving passengers who are facing fines of $9,000, $18,000 and $27,500. The FAA says there has been a major uptick in bad behavior on airliners since late last year and there have been more than 1,300 reports of unruly passengers since Feb. 1. About 20 cases have resulted in the FAA recommending fines and other sanctions.

Passengers have gotten jail time for just knocking a flight attendant to the ground. This guy should spend some serious time in jail.
How about those black bitches on that Sprit flight?
The article and website sure is a bit light on particulars.
“Who” is generally #1 : aka “Who, what, where, when.”
“A man” is pretty vague, maybe they could narrow it down. Where’s his Mugshot? Where is he from? Where does he work? What’s his story?
“Somebody did something somewhere” - Story at 11!! Stay Tuned to Eyewitness News!
Slap on the wrist if he’s in one of the protected classes.
Plus unscheduled landing fees plus paying for the inconvenienced passengers, plus ....
Yep, amazing that there was not a single pic, nor name of this insane rectum.

I wish the airlines shared a little black book of permanently banned people between them. Vegas did it with AC, NJ and it worked! Airlines should PERMANENTLY ban anyone who interferes or intimidates .....from the looney old liberal who berated a MAGA hat wearing citizen to the three feral blacks who were fighting recently on Spirit airlines. 50k fine is fine with me and PERMANENT, irrevocable ban on commercial airlines. Want to fly? Get a charter fare.
He managed to get one hand out of the zip ties.....

Sheeesh..... good thing he didn’t get BOTH hands out...
According to the excerpt, the plane was en route from Honolulu to Seattle.
So unless it had only just taken off, from Honolulu, and immediately circled back, I don't think that they could have landed any earlier than scheduled.
Diverting to Los Angeles or San Francisco would have hardly helped much.

I'd love to see some photos, but will have to go with my imagination.
Understood; I was stating in general what should happen and has in part.
Whatever happened to sky marshals?
LOL!
5.56mm
I did search for the flight information to identify the unruly passenger but all I could find was three “stock images” of white men.
Seems all the videos I’ve seen of unruly passengers are of the 13%. This guy was trying to get into the cockpit. My guess is black, muslim, or antifa type. They seem to produce most of the violence we experience these days.

Amish.
You can’t get insurance on the Detroit to Vegas flight- too dangerous!
I was wondering what my ex was up to these days! *SNORT*
Why not offer him a free flight to anywhere he wants to go, get up to 30,000 feet or so and push him out the door?
Problem solved! Make sure others know this is the fine for misbehaving when traveling by air.
