More education typically leads to better health, yet Black men in the U.S. are not getting the same benefit as other groups, research suggests.
The reasons for the gap are vexing, experts said, but may provide an important window into unique challenges faced by Black men as they try to gain not only good health but also an equal footing in the U.S.
Generally, higher education means better-paying jobs and health insurance, healthier behaviors and longer lives. This is true across many demographic groups. And studies show life expectancy is higher for educated Black men — those with a college degree or higher — compared with those who have not finished high school.
But the increase is not as big as it is for whites. This comes on top of the many health obstacles Black men already face. They are more likely to die from chronic illnesses like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer than white men, and their life expectancy, on average, is lower. Experts point to a variety of factors that might play a role, but many said the most pervasive is racism.

Naturally! What else could it possibly be?
We are such a racist nation that minority groups are beating down our doors trying to get in
One reason that education may not benefit black men as much as other groups is that educational standards are often lowered for them, so that they are not getting the same education that others are getting.
And that’s really a chicken and the egg sort of issue too.
Are the NBA and NFL the only non-racist employers in the country, or is it that those jobs are attractive to black men, black men train hard for them, and black men are physically suited for them, so they succeed.
White supremacists are forcing black men to eat too much greasy fried food, drink Coca Cola, and smoke menthol cigarettes. Everybody knows that. /s
This kind of crap has been going on a lot longer than many think. I can remember being told in the early 70s that it was only fair that Indians (feather) be allowed to draw on Social Security earlier because they had a significantly lower life expectancy.
But here’s an idea. What is the life expectancy of men of sub-Saharan-African men around the world? Could it be that African American men enjoy a pretty high life expectancy in comparison?
BTW, the giveaway to the white hatred in this article is the way it capitalizes Black and not white.
QED.
I worked with that person...affirmative action was why he was there
True. Actual educational improvements are hard to find, no matter the increase in credentials. The DOE NAEP tests show no appreciable improvement in K-12, so tertiary education isnt getting better material to work with.
The answer is simple.
Young black men need in-home fathers. Only 23 % have one, so they join gangs for male approval, and their health suffers as a consequence.
Sorry Virginia, or should I say Karen. Black males are NOT getting a better education. They may be attending more class hours than before, but the “education” they are getting is much worse. You can’t blame this on racism, either. The entire blame rests with teacher’s unions and Democrat politicians running the cities in which they are “educated”

Racism, the antidote to personal responsibility
no clicks for commies. do they give any example of the racism? whites only doctors? blacks being refused treatment? Anything?
Poor black people. So far from God, so close to the Democratic Party.
