DeSantis On Critical Race Theory: ‘Offensive’ To Expect Taxpayers To Pay To Teach Kids To ‘Hate Their Country’
The Epoc Times ^ | 5-23-2021 | Tom Ozimek

Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said Friday that he opposes teaching critical race theory in the state’s public schools, calling the ideas pushed by its advocates as “based on false history” and “teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other.”

DeSantis made the remarks at a Friday press conference in Pensacola, where he announced the signing of a bill temporarily establishing several statewide tax-free periods on items like storm supplies and back-to-school products.

“It’s offensive to the taxpayer that they would be asked to fund critical race theory, that they would be asked to fund teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other,” DeSantis said.

In a recent interview on NTD’s “Focus Talk,” Yiatin Chu, an Asian mother of two and co-chair of the New York chapter of the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR), described critical race theory as pushing the idea that disparate outcomes, such as academic competency scores, can be reduced to a single variable—race.

Advocates of the theory, which she said is increasingly being taught at pre-college levels, push the socialist notion of equality of outcome, and blame differences in outcomes on entrenched privilege while dividing people into “oppressors” and their victims, the “oppressed.”

Republicans across the nation are trying to prevent the teaching of critical race theory in classrooms.

Recently, South Dakota’s Republican Gov. Kristi Noem took aim at both the “1619 Project” and critical race theory and, like DeSantis, voiced opposition to their incorporation in school curriculums.

“The 1619 Project relies upon the concept of Critical Race Theory to further divide students based on the color of their skin,” Noem wrote in a series of tweets Friday.

“This is inappropriate and un-American. It has no place in South Dakota, and it certainly has no place in South Dakota classrooms.”

The “1619 Project,” inaugurated with a special issue of The New York Times Magazine, attempts to cast the Atlantic slave trade as the dominant factor in the founding of America instead of ideals such as individual liberty and natural rights. The initiative has been widely panned by historians and political scientists, with some critics calling it a bid to rewrite U.S. history through a left-wing lens.

CRT. Teaching hatred of self and hatred of your own country. What could go wrong?

Let us pray that this is the beginning of the end of the failed experiment of “public education” in this country.

I think it was all Catholic-envy to begin with, anyway.

It doesn’t help, at all, that “teachers” have been allowed to become ignorant marxists in this country, either.

“they would be asked to fund teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other”

Unless I missed it reading. They are also taught to hate themselves. This crap has been going on in schools already for decades. It is just now getting ramped up at an incredible pace. Global warming is a perfect example. For you to fully buy into it, it really helps if you hate mankind and yourself.

The NAZI’s called their version Rassenkunde. Race studies of people by their ancestry. They instituted their own German Physics because too many Jews were physics scholars.

Critical Race Theory is as evil as Nazism.

And Bolshevism. The only differences between Naziism and Bolshevism is that Naziism was Communism for Butch Homosexuals, while Bolshevism was Communism for pervs for underaged girls

DeSantis is a man after my heart mind. Every time I hear about the tripe that is being pushed on children in schools I immediately think about how I am paying for that. The next thought occurs is that teachers do not focus of what really matters; little things like reading, writing and arithmetic. Then I realize that vast numbers of teachers are functionally illiterate and lack all ability to critically think. (It's really not the teachers' fault. They are just damn lazy and stupid.) But school taxes keep going up. Teacher salaries keep going up. More administrators, pseudo-psychologists, support staff, and leftist curriculum are added to public schools. It is always sold for the benefit of the children and better education. But we really know it's just a bunch of leftists living fat and happy while indoctrinating America's children. And they do it on our dime.

Teaching is the only so-called profession (it ain't a profession when you belong a communist union) where the price increases and the quality decreases.

It is time to put public schools out of business. School vouchers where money follows the child is the only sane way to pay for taxpayers to pay for education. Although, I would completely happy if no tax dollars funded education.

I wonder what our wonderful Governor DeSantis will do to make sure this 1619 Project is prevented from being implemented in FL schools, and how it can be monitored as the Dem teachers unions will continually attempt to push it.

Parents need to tell their sons and daughters to rat out any teachers in their schools that are attempting to foist this rubbish on them. The children need to report any incidents to their parents and then the parents need to take action to squelch any efforts to indoctrinate their children by protesting loudly and constantly to their school boards until they listen or vote them out of office. There must be repercussions.

"Not just hate their country. Teaching them to hate their fellow citizens."

Starting with the parents.

Public schools are already teaching White kids that they ought to hate their parents....and, then themselves for being White.
Notice how the kids are adopting the ghetto culture, everything Black is A-Okay and should be emulated.
That's from all the 'nudging' being done by unionized teachers and other administrators.

Get your kids out of the public school cesspool, NOW!

I have a friend who has done this with the Zoom classes. One English teacher was talking about how evil white men are. She called the principal and superintendent and said she was offended. Her daughter was fearful the teacher would treat the white kids differently. Also added that the teacher was creating a hostile environment for the white students. The teacher toned it down some.

The next time the teacher tried CRT in the classroom, the daughter asked why she hates white people so much, especially since teacher is white. Teacher denied she hated white people.
