Was that your primary home? I’m just curious, and I don’t mean to get too personal; how did that affect you in the long term? Were you able to rebuild? How long did it take?
Hi. No, the house was empty. We had just closed escrow the day before the fire, so we did not lose anything but the house. We continued to live in Los Altos until last year when we bought a house nearby our old house. Our old property was cleaned up and remains vacant. Our insurance covered everything and we consider ourselves fortunate. Many lost much more than we did.

I just watched a documentary last week on volcanoes and this volcano was featured. It is a scary thing, to be sure! Volcanology fascinates me!
I’ve watched probably three dozen Nova-PBS videos in the last few weeks, and everything makes perfect sense until they get to the part where “If something isn’t done about climate change, we’re all gonna DIE!”

The Italians probably also have much better private and public transportation available. Of course it helps to be tracking earth movements and quakes.
