Thousands of Australian children are walking out of school to attend protests, calling for action on climate change.
Up to 50,000 students are expected at School Strike for Climate rallies across the country.
David Soriano, a 17-year-old attending a Syndey rally told the BBC he was worried about the future and wants the government to see the youth movement "as one to be reckoned with".
"We're scared and concerned. We're doubtful that there might not be a future in store for the generations after us, and even our own generation," he said.
Mr Soriano said he had experienced increasing heatwaves and low air quality, in Western Sydney where he lives.
The protesters are also calling for no new coal, oil and gas projects in Australia, including the controversial Adani mine.
Protesters want 100% renewable energy generation and exports by 2030 too, along with plans for the transition away from fossil fuel jobs.
"I also fear for my extended family in the Philippines who, because of climate change, have been seeing more severe typhoons at an unpredictable rate," Mr Soranio said.
"I hope the government will hear our voices," he added.

Absolutely. Students are the easiest population to mobilize for any demonstration because they are eager to ditch school.
And what exactly do they think they want to happen?
I am sure the teachers will tell them what to think.

Good thing is that, like in the UK, this uber-wokeness in Australia’s urban areas will scare just enough voters to return the current (conservative) Morrison government in their election later this year. The Aussie govt has been good recently at knifing Fascist Big Tech (Goog/Facebook) where the sun don’t shine.
Let’s test to see if they are serious.
Ask if they are actively boycotting the nation that contributes most to C02 production.
As we all know (since we are freepers), the US has already exceeded the Paris accord numbers and we could and should just sit on our Obamaholes and let the rest of the world castigate itself for a while. The offending country is - of course - China, which is constructing numerous coal -ired electric plants and continues to be the number one “climate changer” extant.
Public education has “repurposed” and is now a tool to turn kids into drooling Neanderthals.
Easy Fix:
Any student that shows up to class with any item or product made with fossil fuels, shall be Expelled.
Round them up. Sentence them to mental health sessions.
The constant brainwashing and propaganda effort is showing its results. Congratulations, schools. You have wholly indoctrinated an entire generation with this tripe.
Just like a certain group in Western Europe did (using a slightly different villain) during the 1930’s.
