On Tuesday, Attorney General Letitia James (D-N.Y.) announced that her office would join the Manhattan district attorney in a criminal investigation of the Trump Organization. James had begun investigating the organization in 2019, but her office recently launched a criminal complaint. Former President Donald Trump condemned the investigation in the harshest of terms.
“We have informed the Trump Organization that our investigation into the organization is no longer purely civil in nature. We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA,” James’ spokesman Fabien Levy told CNN.
“There is nothing more corrupt than an investigation that is in desperate search of a crime. But, make no mistake, that is exactly what is happening here,” Trump said in a statement on Wednesday.
The former president said he learned of the criminal probe from legacy media coverage. He framed this as one more witch hunt after nearly six years of relentless attacks. This investigation came after Trump was “under investigation from the time I came down the escalator 5 ½ years ago, including the fake Russia Russia Russia Hoax, the 2 year, $48M, No Collusion Mueller Witch Hunt, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and others.”
“The Attorney General of New York literally campaigned on prosecuting Donald Trump even before she knew anything about me,” the former president said. “She said that if elected, she would use her office to look into ‘every aspect’ of my real estate dealings. She swore that she would ‘definitely sue’ me. She boasted on video that she would be, and I quote, ‘a real pain in the ass.’ She declared, ‘just wait until I’m in the Attorney General’s office,’ and, ‘I’ve got my eyes on Trump Tower.'”

At a strategic time, like when strong proof of election fraud comes out, you just know they’re going to indict Trump on some criminal charge. Probably his family too, because they know how that will hurt him.
Remember the ham sandwich analogy. Politically-motivated criminal prosecution is just another tool to them.
How is this legal? I’m no lawyer but don’t you need evidence of a crime first before you start an investigation? Such as the IRS saying he fudged his taxes?
Show me the person and I’ll show you the crime.

This is a warning to any successful businessman to stay away from the political swamp.
Whoever was hosting the Rush L show yesterday had this to offer ... The NY AG will put a microscope on everyone that has worked in the Trump business empire looking for anything that even smells like a crime. If found, the AG will tie the ‘crime’ (parking ticket, overdue rent, etc) to Trump personally even if Trump doesn’t even know the person.
Trump is right ... this is an investigation without any actual crime supporting it. The NY AG ought to be thrown out of office and knee-capped.

Trump doesn’t do his own taxes, he isn’t at his kitchen table on April 14th computing his taxes. He has a professional accounting firm, with dedicated employees, that only do Trump Organization taxes. He has tax attorneys as well and I would not be surprised if they have an IRS agent to review as well.
And an abuse of power that needs to be addressed.
They want to stretch this crap out for the next 2 to 3 years. They don’t care if they get a conviction or not.
I would bet that Trump’s taxes are heavily audited EVERY SINGLE YEAR-—EVERY SINGLE PAGE.
The IRS is all over the guy every year.

The problem with this is successful businessmen are really the PROBLEM SOLVERS.
They usually know how to get things done. Here in NYC, we have a billionaire businessman, a Greek immigrant who loves this country named John Catsamatides who ran for Mayor against Bill De Blasio 4 years ago. He lost of course.
This city would have been better today had he won instead of that idiot Mayor we have who hates the police.

Don’t they need appraisal for that? You can’t just state it’s worth x and the bank loans based on that. There are tax records and sale records to reflect the values.

Well, that and the fact that Trump is clean. After all, the guy and his businesses used to get audited just about every year. If he had done something wrong, he would have been in jail long before he came down the escalator.
What bothers these people about Trump is that he is, outwardly, an elitist. Rich, Ivy League education, hob-nobs with the rich and powerful, etc. But despite that, perhaps BECAUSE of that close association with the elites, he hates them and what they stand for, because he is essentially just like us (except with fantastic wealth) - he is, at heart, a sincerely, proudly, patriotic man. He isn’t afraid of them, because he knows their secret - that they have contempt for us and USE us for their own ends - and isn’t afraid to call them on it. So crap like he’s been going through since the Russia Hoax, the impeachments and this sham prosecution are his payback. But in the end, facts matter. Trump plays to win ALL THE TIME, and he’s defeated much smarter and more resourceful people than this Leftist skank.
Free societies investigate crimes.
