Why Israel is prosperous and Gaza's a pit Star Parker on Western aid: 'Subsidizing blame and irresponsibility produces squalor'

By November 1947, as Jews continued their process of building and Arabs continued their process of hating, the United Nations gave the green light to establish a Jewish state and an adjacent Arab state.

Jews accepted the U.N. partition of the region, declaring the new state of Israel in May 1948, but the Arabs rejected the plan and attacked the newly declared Jewish state. Israelis fought and miraculously prevailed in its War of Independence, and the project of rebuilding the ancient homeland moved forward. Now it is an officially recognized member of the community of nations.

Compared with the desolation described by Mark Twain, Israel today is a modern miracle, with per capita GDP (gross domestic product) higher than that of Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain, according to the World Bank.

As of 2019, Israel had a per capita GDP of $43,589, much higher than that of its immediately adjacent neighbors: Jordan's was $4,405, Egypt's $3,019, Syria's $2,037 (as of 2007) and Lebanon's $7,584.

HUH? Hard work and setting goals is a good thing? Sure seems like if there are endless hand outs there isn't much incentive to do much for yourself. Squalorville is closer than we think. Some places it's already standard ops. But, being a recipient of WP how would I know? I keep seeing crap about "Walk a mile in my shoes!" How about those that talk that crap walk a mile in mine. They don't know my story any more than I know theirs and it doesn't mean theirs is any better or worse so that can quit with the assumptions.

Just look at number of Nobel Prizes in science between Jews and Muslims.

Churchill said it best:

A quote from an 1899 book by Winston Churchill, "The River War", in which he describes Muslims he apparently observed during Kitchener's campaign in the Sudan

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science - the science against which it had vainly struggled - the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”

I did some thinking—where did America’s decline start? What was that point when things began to go south? I believe it was in the 1960s with the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. Blacks had built a successful parallel culture, communities and societies. But to achieve equality and voting rights—the movement turned the Blacks into victims. This victimization helped earn them the pity and helped them in this cause. BUT at a cost. They were perpetual victims. This destroyed what they built. Others got in the act—all became victims to cash in. Native People, women, Gays, Trans, Latinos Asians. and Arabs. In the end, it breeds only hate and death. Look at what this victimization has done? Short term gains with long term pain.

Why Israel is prosperous and Gaza's a pit...

I'm racking my brain... What oh what could be the cause of this? I think we all know what is first and foremost.

where did America’s decline start? where did America’s decline start?

Methinks with Woodrow Wilson. Possibly Teddy Roosevelt.

tar Parker on Western aid: ‘Subsidizing blame and irresponsibility produces squalor’

Dear Star,
The Palis in Gaza are well fed with plenty of food. There is no one that wants those wretched people as they are literally the scum of the Earth and no amount of coddling will change that. Blame and irresponsibility are part of Islam: They blame everyone for their plight then kill them at the first opportunity. The Palis were given Gaza with its food producing greenhouses and what did they do with that windfall? Raise more food and export it as the Israelis had? Nope. They threw out all the plants, soil, seedlings and made the greenhouses into arms and munitions factories.

The produced their own squalor and demonstrated their totally irresponsibility toward their own people - so quit felling sorry and making excuses - they only way to ‘fix’ these ‘people’ is to exterminate the lot and start over.

No, comrade, they are bad things, very bad things The kinds of things white supremacists do. I believe the black history branch of the Smithsonian has a nice poster explaining it.

No rule of law is one problem. Distinctly recall Palestinians looting greenhouses once Israel left Gaza.

Looters strip Gaza greenhouses
Palestinians looted dozens of greenhouses on Tuesday, walking off with irrigation hoses, water pumps and plastic sheeting in a blow to fledgling efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip.

Palestinians looted dozens of greenhouses on Tuesday, walking off with irrigation hoses, water pumps and plastic sheeting in a blow to fledgling efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip.

American Jewish donors had bought more than 3,000 greenhouses from Israeli settlers in Gaza for $14 million last month and transferred them to the Palestinian Authority. Former World Bank President James Wolfensohn, who brokered the deal, put up $500,000 of his own cash.

Palestinian police stood by helplessly Tuesday as looters carted off materials from greenhouses in several settlements, and commanders complained they did not have enough manpower to protect the prized assets. In some instances, there was no security and in others, police even joined the looters, witnesses said.

“We need at least another 70 soldiers. This is just a joke,” said Taysir Haddad, one of 22 security guards assigned to Neve Dekalim, formerly the largest Jewish settlement in Gaza. “We’ve tried to stop as many people as we can, but they’re like locusts.”

The failure of the security forces to prevent scavenging and looting in the settlements after Israel’s troop pullout Monday raised new concerns about Gaza’s future.

‘We are not going to tolerate chaos’
Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas told his people in a televised speech Tuesday that he would take immediate steps to impose order. “We have one law for everyone and no one is above the law. We are not going to tolerate chaos after today,” he said.

The Palestinian leader is under intense pressure from his people and the international community to stop the growing lawlessness in Gaza, where rival militant groups are jockeying for power. As Abbas spoke, hundreds of masked Hamas gunmen wielding rifles and grenade launchers paraded through the streets of a nearby refugee camp.

The greenhouses are a centerpiece of Palestinian plans for rebuilding Gaza after 38 years of Israeli occupation. The Palestinian Authority hopes the high-tech greenhouses left by the Israelis will provide jobs and export income for Gaza’s shattered economy.

During a tour of Neve Dekalim, Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia implored Palestinians to leave the structures intact. “These greenhouses are for the Palestinian people,” he said. “We don’t want anyone to touch or harm anything that can be useful for our people.”

As I said the other day, they were given an entire cargo ship full of vehicles. A gift from the US taxpayer. They turned them down because they weren’t offered free fuel.
