Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff released their tax returns Tuesday, showing they only donated a sliver of their income to charity.
Harris and Emhoff earned $1,695,225 in 2020, largely from Emhoff’s work as an attorney but donated only $27,006 to charity.

I don’t know how or when or why this started, but politicians feel the need to release tax returns.
Kamala and Doug are very wealthy, and don’t give much to charity considering their income. It’s a bit of grist for the mill for those who want to pick apart their finances.

So the vast majority of their (measly) donations went to universities which are already swimming in cash.
Liberals tend not to make charitable contributions. Reason being, their ideology tells them that government programs should be solving all the ills of society. Thus, they don’t feel the need to contribute to charities.
I probably wouldn't approve of anyone/thing they donate to anyway.
Polls for years have shown that conservatives give more to charity than liberals do.
Liberals are much more charitable with the taxpayers' monies than their own.

Via their party, they donate plenty of YOUR money to their favorite causes, though. So, that must “count”.
