Forrest Gump, with his simple, commonsensical approach to life, often noted, “just like that” something changed. Whether it was the rain in Vietnam, his running adventure, or his Army service, “just like that” it was over.
Now after a year of mask-wearing, “just like that” it is no longer necessary per the CDC’s latest guidance. Last week the CDC suddenly reversed course with this new guidance.
If you are fully vaccinated, you can resume activities that you did prior to the pandemic.Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.
If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, find a vaccine.
What changed? Only a few months ago, last February, Dr. Anthony Fauci warned that Americans may still need to wear face masks through 2022 to protect against the spread of COVID, emerging variants, and whatever else might escape from one the labs he funded.
Around the same time, Dr. Fauci also recommended wearing two masks, “So if you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective.” If one is good, two must be better. Why not 3 or 4 masks? Or ten? Or a hazmat suit for everyone?

Well, they never worked anyway, so....
Do bank robbers wear masks ?

Gas pipeline shut down, Middle East in flames, and people no longer wanting the vaccine* if it means they still have to wear masks everywhere. That’s what changed.
*shutting down J&J also did more for that than anything the anti-vacc’rs could dream of to stop people from getting jabbed.
Fauci has gone farther than that...speculating that we may have to wear them every year....and also get a booster every year.
Even here in MASKachusetts, the mask mandate and all chinese virus restrictions will be lifted on May 29th, EXCEPT school kids will still have to wear masks SMH and if you ride the bus or train you still need to wear one. My question is WHY? WHY? Is this the calm before the storm? Don’t get me wrong, I happy this is happening but my gut says the worst is yet to come, this is just a reprieve, a few precious moments of freedom before the hammer comes down hard.
Local store owner changes his mask requirement for employees and customers
I used to have both sympathy and empathy for biz owners, especially small biz owners, in NYS.
No longer.
Not quite.
The mandate will be lifted for the fully vaccinated.
It’ll be interesting to see what biz will do.
In NYS, some biz are still gonna require a muzzle.
Fauchi is obviously way over his head...so I never have and never will listen to him or CDC. But the end of this year, regardless of him or CDC wants, the virus will simply be a bad memory in this country as not even blue states will tolerate this crap anymore, given that states like Texas, at the present infection rate, will barely see 1% of its population infect in the next 12 months, and that’s just infected, not hospitalized and not killed, just infected.
that strange pic of the maskless bidens and carters could have backfired on the maskeraid...
What the hey?
guy sounds ridiculous.
I was gratified to see all the mask signs removed within 24hrs in our state.
What a relief. You want to wear a mask? feel free...and a lot of folks still did...was in a grocery yesterday and everyone was still masked. Very strange.
But a business owner wanting customers to mask up anyway? forget it. I will take my business elsewhere.
Replace your mask with a neck brace for the Whiplash from the CDC.
He’s scared.
I bet he has liability nightmares when he goes to bed every night.
But instead jamming his head up his butt, he and his fellow biz owners ought to be making a hellacious stink over the fact that neither our state legislature or Congress has provided them with immunity from WuFlu suits.
In fact, I don’t think any state in the damn union, including DeSantis and Florida, have protected biz from WuFlu lawsuits.
NYS protected its nursing homes, but not its businesses.
Why was that, eh?
BTW, likely not for the reason most think, but that’s another thread.
maskeraid...
I might have to steal that one! Perfect.
Texas is not the shining example of success against COVID that many seem to think it is..
Easily Google-able:
Cases to-date: 2.93 million (out of 29M population)
That’s 10+% of their population.
Case Fatality Rate: 1.74% (51,139 dead).
Hardly “COVID free”..

Will you still be posting that in 20 years? After all, everything you posted will be just as valid then.
Hmm. I never stopped my activities.
How many are duplicate cases?
How many are false positives?
How many are cases counted as covid, but not really?
How many deaths were counted as covid, but were in fact caused by another issue, and the patient merely had covid at the time?
Not even worth going there. I’ll paraphrase his post:
“Germany killed 4 million Jews in the 1930s and 1940s...therefore no Jew should ever visit Germany again because they’ll get killed (given what happened then).”
Or maybe this:
“Spanish flu killed 2 million Americans 100 years ago, so how can you claim that Spanish Flu isn’t a threat today?”
