The crowd of Wyoming Republicans vying to oust Rep. Liz Cheney is expected to clear out once former President Donald Trump chooses a favorite, a development that could sink the embattled incumbent.
More than a half-dozen Republicans have announced campaigns against Cheney in the 2022 GOP primary, threatening to divide the vote and boost the congresswoman to a fourth House term. But Republican insiders in Wyoming predict the field will winnow once Trump delivers an endorsement. Indeed, state legislator Chuck Gray, among the first and most active Republicans to mount a campaign against Cheney, would likely fold his bid if Trump endorsed a competing primary candidate.
“It’s something Chuck would strongly consider,” Gray campaign spokesman Rory McShane said Thursday, adding: “When [Trump] endorses a candidate, the others will drop out or their fundraising will dry up immediately.”
Cheney was bounced from House Republican leadership on Wednesday after weeks of tension with GOP members over her constant war of words with Trump.

The registration deadline is next May so don't expect to see an endorsement anytime soon. But when it happens, Liz Cheney will be toast. Though I have my suspicions she'll have made the decision to retire from Congress by then.

I suspect there are enough RINO’s in Wyoming who will keep their name on the primary ballot in order to split the GOP vote in hopes that Liz Cheney survives.
Also, there will be some Democrat crossover voting so it is not a slam dunk that Cheney gets beaten in the 2022 Republican Primary Election.
The Establishment always counted on its preferred candidate riding up the middle in a crowded field (that it intentionally created).

Agreed, but Trump’s not going to be around forever. There should be pre-primaries or caucuses where the MAGA’s would choose the best of them. Or, even better, the candidates (or at least the ones who weren’t leftist plants) would bury their egos and agree on who was best.

If Trump is going to endorse then endorse early. He waited till the last minute to endorse Wright in the Texas 6th special and while she came in first it was with less than 40% of the total Republican vote. While that got her into the runoff, there is no runoff in Wyoming. And there was no incumbent either. So an early endorsement would be vital to keep the field down to two or three candidates. If he waits until shortly before the primary and there are six or seven candidates then Cheney will win.

I cannot see any circumstances that Liz Cheney wins. You are assuming voters in Wyoming are stupid. They are not. They know exactly what is going on and President Trump overwhelmingly won Wyoming.
