The federal government warned Americans on Wednesday not to fill plastic bags with gasoline during the ongoing fuel shortage on the East Coast.

“Do not fill plastic bags with gasoline,” the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission wrote on social media on Wednesday morning.

The only place where I have seen this tried is in rural Africa when someone punctures a pipeline and villagers scramble to collect their share in any available container including plastic bags. And then someone decides to smoke a cigarette.

My wife filled up at the Love's down the highway this morning. She said it was expensive ($2.85/gal) but there were only three other cars at the pumps when she was there. No lines or hoarding.
