This is crazy. I stopped for gas just now having no idea what was happening. It’s out. People here told me they’d been to other stations and found the same. pic.twitter.com/7LDVdUXPo4

How long do you think you and that semi will be on the road til the gas dries up. Everyone around here is running out. Good luck by the way.

Here in northern Alberta, we have lots of condy right in the ground, that’ll burn in diesels too.

It’s going to get rough all around though. The time for protesting is over.

I didn’t say they were.

...there’s a system level requirement missing if the system is this vulnerable.

BTW, I just checked GasBuddy, noon on Tuesday. Oddly every station in my area is reporting gas at $3.05 for regular, so you may want to use that app to look around your area...

I'd be willing to bet good money that if I were to hop on Interstate 80 (2 miles from my house) and head West for about 45 minutes or so, I'd find $3.05/gal gas. Then again, any "savings" I'd get at fill-up time would be gone by the time I drove 45 minutes back home...

BTW, interesting aside: I have it on pretty good authority that some of our electronic warfare aircraft have the ability to penetrate an air-gap and cause all sorts of mischief on a gapped WAN.

I'm sure that's true. I used to key up 2,500 watts into my 10-160 fan dipole and reboot both my sons computers every time I keyed up. Sucked growing up in my house back then, wanting to play video games online against my friends at night when all of a sudden Dad keys up his big honkin' Amateur Radio and that victory they were getting ready to have over all their friends ended in an abrupt and infuriating (for them) reboot which seized defeat from the jaws of victory!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

And you know me my brother from another mother, you bet your ass I did it on purpose!

I have talked today with federal officials including Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and we have a full court press to get the Colonial Pipeline back up and fully operating quickly. Report price gouging and please don’t rush to top off your tanks. – RC

Alabama Gov. Ivey spoke with Department of Energy officials who told her the pipeline should be operational within a few days. She says the gas shortage hasn’t hit Alabama and people should not panic buy. “Only fill up you if you need to and do not fill up multiple containers.”

If Colonial cannot get the pipeline operating soon, expect to see some big rigs sitting.

That will impact supplies to the grocery stores, so I'm glad I have some extra food in the house.

Due to intense web and server traffic GasBuddy outage data is temporarily being paused. We hope to resume ASAP.

I was not trying to challenge your decision to get last gas at $3.09—I was trying to pass along some useful information. When gas prices rise, the GasBuddy app is helpful. Surprising that gas is higher where you are with Lemont area and all the refinery operations there...

Actually, I am in Central DuPage...IS that West of Southwest suburbs?

I was really asking for and wanting some sources for your comments about gas prices going up to $4.+ and tankers being rerouted, and thot I was being helpful mentioning what I am paying and using the app.

Have a nice rest of your day.

Maybe.

Depending on how much they need to flash to the PLC’s and SCADAs.

If they have the backups. If they don’t, then there is a LOT of tuning and integration before they can turn on flow.

Having been in an event where a lot of drives needed reflashed.. Well I developed a taste for bad Scotch.

US considering foreign tankers to move domestic fuel supplies
https://www.freightwaves.com/news/us-considering-foreign-tankers-to-move-domestic-fuel-supplies

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is assessing whether American tankers can meet emergency fuel demands caused by the Colonial Pipeline shutdown or if foreign ships will be needed to help fill the gap.

“The Biden-Harris administration is continually assessing the impact of the ongoing Colonial Pipeline incident on fuel supplies for the East Coast and is monitoring reported shortages in parts of the Southeast,” DOT stated Tuesday. “This ongoing effort includes evaluating resources the federal government can mobilize to mitigate potential impacts.”

One of those resources is the U.S. domestic tanker fleet, of which there are 57, according to the latest data from the U.S. Maritime Administration (MarAd). If MarAd determines that there is not enough capacity available to move the needed fuel supplies, the administration will consider waiving the Jones Act, allowing foreign ships to step in.

The Jones Act requires vessels moving between U.S. ports be built, flagged and crewed in the United States.

After MarAd conducts a survey of Jones Act-qualified ships, the Department of Homeland Security, through Customs and Border Protection, has the authority to receive and approve waivers.

Vortexa, an energy analyst group, pointed out that Jones Act waivers can be provided to foreign tankers originally destined for international destinations that could then be rerouted to U.S. ports. (excerpt)
