Regarding Nicholas Wade (author of https://thebulletin.org/2021/05/the-origin-of-covid-did-people-or-nature-open-pandoras-box-at-wuhan/) I hope he can comment on this article: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1873506120304165
It was cited in a comment thread at the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists under his article. Is the article in Science Direct propaganda from the CCP?
Based on the title, this is a very disappointing thread.
Fur & cleavage!
this has been posted before, but worth posting again in case you did not see it
Something everyone should read.
Top Kek.
You must not have read Wade’s paper carefully.
Or this one, I guess.
The first point is that the furin cleavage in coof-19 is an INSERT; not just point mutations.
The second, is that looking at the genetic sequence coding for the successive arginines in the furin site in coof-19, the codons which signal for arginine, use the codons preferred in humans, not bats.
The third, is that none of the closest relatives of coof-19; the ones with the highest genetic similarity/”backbone” have the, *ahem*, INSERT.
And, it’d be really fun to find out two things.
1) What is the geographical distribution of the viruses mentioned in your paper. Are any of the found in / near Wuhan?
2) It’s not enough to have a furin cleavage site. You have to bind with (say) the human ACE2 receptor strongly too.
Did this obviously rushed-out squid-ink bullsh*t article bother to look?
‘Cause it seems like about as slapdash as the “POWS for truth” the Dems scotch-taped together to try to counteract the “Swift Boat Veterans For Truth” which holed the John F’in Kerry campaign beneath the waterline.
BTW, I’ve heard suggestions that MERS CoV was an early engineering attempt in Wuhan, too.
Thanks for posting.
I only skimmed the Science Direct article, but it appears to me that (as noted by grey whiskers) it did not address at all that the triplet codons used for arg in the Covid virus use a set of two CGG triplets, which are rare in “natural” corona viruses (one CGG would show up maybe 5% of the time, so you’d expect a pair of them to occur maybe 0.25% of the time as a natural phenomenon). But again, as pointed out by gw, that’s the standard sequence used by experimental geneticists when they want to code for arginines.
A google search of that is, umm, interesting!
A virus in a pandemic with a feature that only occurs naturally 5% of the time, is unnatural... ergo man-made.
In a lab.
Outsourced to China by flip-flop fauxi.
Fry him...
Interesting that this article/opinion column appeared in the BAS, a longtime far-left “science” publications.
Remember the “Atomic clock to doomsday” bullcrap? I remember it from the 50’s and we are still hear. They must have been using a cheap imported Chinese Bulova knock-off watch.
If the virus was first found in a bat cave approximately 1200 KM or miles away from Wuhan, how did it get there other than through research efforts done on brought-in specimens to the Wuhan Lab? There are no known foreign area bats with the virus in Wuhan. And who helped fund research there? Dr. Faustus Fauci and his crew, in part.
I’ll go with an accidental release from the Wuhan Lab rather than a deliberate bio-warfare attack. However, reports on the Red Chinese creating more severe versions of the Virus point the dual purpose of preventative research AND Bio-Weapons for war use.
So far the virus has killed over 2 million people around the world, disrupted economies for many years, stunned the education of children all around the world, esp. in the non-communist western nations, and let socialist-oriented governments (now including the US), to impose near-draconian restrictions on political and civil rights. Even Canada is arresting people for just speaking up against these restrictions.
If you want a book to read about prior CBW programs in various countries, esp. communist troops usage in Laos, Cambodia, Afghanistan and Yemen, look at “Yellow Rain: A Journey Through the Terror of Chemical Warfare”, Sterling Seagrave, 1981, M. Evans & Co., NY.
[PS: I know a little about Chemical Warfare as my father served in the CWS during WW2, which included working with gas masks in case the Germans or Japanese used gas against the Allies, as well as developing the German defenses- busting 4.2” Chemical Warfare Mortar (W.P, White Phosphorus).
And just for shits and grins, when I arrived at the Majestic Hotel in downtown Saigon in 1970 (as a journalist), it was hosting the “Third International Conference on the Plague” (So. Vietnam being one of a handful of countries that suffered from the rat-borne disease).
My travelling colleague, a medical student, disappeared into the conference for a day, grinning like a Cheshire cat at a mouse farm.
“Diseases are everywhere but some are where they should NOT have been” (to paraphrase George Orwell in “Animal Farm”.
#8. Was she drawn to look like ‘Fanny Fox’ the Argentinian Firecracker, Rep. Wilbur Mills’ swimming pal?
Mills was involved in a traffic incident in Washington, D.C. at 2 a.m. on October 9, 1974. U.S. Park Police stopped his car late at night because he had not activated the vehicle's headlights. ... When police approached the car, Foxe leapt from the vehicle and jumped into the nearby Tidal Basin in an attempt to escape. This for youngsters that don't know the reference.
Do you know anything about molecular biology?
I’m curious.
Hard to say.
Cleavage and inserts!!!
Did you notice the affiliation of the authors?
Curiouser and curiouser.
Given what we know about Red China.
Almost like they need to blow a lot of smoke to distract.
