Rep. Elise Stefanik could be one-term GOP conference chair if she beats Liz Cheney

Rep. Elise Stefanik is telling Republicans on the fence that she intends to serve just one term as GOP conference chair in an effort to lock in support for the House leadership position, Fox News has confirmed.

The New York Republican is poised to replace Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., as soon as next week at the No. 3 GOP leader in the House.

In her conversations with colleagues in advance of the expected vote, Stefanik has said she intends to serve in leadership through the 2022 election, two sources familiar told Fox News. Then she intends to seek the top GOP spot on the House Education and Labor Committee, where she currently is a member.

Stefanik's pledge was first reported by Politico as a way to assuage some of the most conservative House members about her moderate voting record and to alleviate concerns about being boxed in by House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who is encouraging members to back Stefanik.

It is a prerequisite for leadership in the GOP that one be fully committed to the Bush Plan for North Mexico.

Anyone who is a threat to Liz Cheney had better watch their back.

Good point.

Preemptive tactical retreat, on the part of Elise Stefanik?

I don't care if Stefanik is a RINO.

I just want to see Lizard Cheney kicked out of leadership.

The voters are going to take care of any 2020 RINO traitor who must face a primary in 2022. The blame for the 2020 steal lies squarely with RINO-controlled state legislatures who refused to enforce voter ID because of their petty hatred of Trump. There is a tidal wave coming for them in 2022.

The Tea Party in revolt won 63 seats.

MAGA in revolt may do even better.

NO to McCarthy in 2024.

Stefanik isn't retreating, she's signalling to conservatives they'll have another opportunity at the #3 spot in 2023.

She's also staking out a claim to a committee chairmanship after her term in leadership is over.

Looks like a win-win-win maneuver to me.

Self-imposed term limit. That sounds like a good idea, and should be implemented for all of the leadership roles in Congress for both parties. Imagine having Nancy Pelosi “age out” as Speaker.

There may be more to this than meets the eye. With New York losing a House seat after the 2020 census, the Democrats in the NY legislature may be looking to gerrymander her seat away.

Why doesn’t the GOP just merge with the Democrats and have done with it?

How many politicians are elected pledging to serve only a specific number of terms and then when that pledge is up they claim that they have to run again for the good of the country or the party or whatever? This strikes me as that kind of promise.

Evil McCarthy will be redistricted out by the same leftists he killed off the Cali Gop during the 2020 redistricting .
He signed off on a that awful Dem plan without telling
anyone .
He saved his district and wiped out every Gop state rep district .
He is the silicon valley's chief whore.

I sure hope Trump has learned his lesson about "working with" the Swamp. Trump might see the practical side of things, but let me assure you, 2020 Trump voters are LIVID with the RINOs.

I think Trump-endorsed conservative challengers will beat out the RINOs.

And if Trump happens to endorse a RINO, the voters might have something else to say in the matter, just like they did with the wheelchair bound, 24-year old Madison Cawthorn, who defeated the Trump-endorsed candidate for Mark Meadows' House seat in North Carolina.

His endorsement of Micro “Amnestio” Rubio shows he has not, Rubio’s entire Senate career has been to promote the opposite of MAGA, the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA).

Why doesn’t the GOP just merge with the Democrats and have done with it?

Because the GOP voters are overwhelmingly MAGA.

It's the RINOs who hold office who showed us who they really are during/after the 2020 Steal.

Vote out every RINO who must face a primary in 2022, especially in the state legislatures, who refused to enforce voter ID because of their petty hatred of Trump.

RINOs are to blame for the woke clown world we now live in. RINOs could have stopped it from happening if they had enforced voter ID and had conducted a transparent audit of the cheat-by-mail-in ballots before electors were chosen. They are the enemy within.

Fraud.
The number one reason congress is as it is today.

What is being done about it?
