A state senator attended a virtual meeting while behind the wheel of his car on the same day his colleagues introduced a bill to punish distracted driving.
Ohio state Senator Andrew Brenner, a Republican, tried to disguise his whereabouts by adding a CGI background of a home office during Monday's conference call.
But he was busted thanks to the sight of a seatbelt draped across his torso - and by the background momentarily dropping when he leaned back in his car seat.
Brenner attempted to defend his actions to The Columbus Dispatch, saying: 'I wasn't distracted.'
'I was paying attention to the driving and listening to it (the meeting).'
'I had two meetings that were back to back that were in separate locations. And I've actually been on other calls, numerous calls, while driving. Phone calls for the most part but on video calls, I'm not paying attention to the video. To me, it's like a phone call.'

and someone even posted an article advising people to use seatbelts even when not in their cars.
Yeah, and Bill Clinton was paying attention on his business calls with world leaders with Monica under his desk.
If he was doing nothing wrong why did he try to disguise it? Moron.
People have been audio-conferencing while traveling on the road for years and years.
But what’s cheesy and stupid about this is the lying and the deception with the fake background. He should have just entered the call in audio only mode.
I think it’s called, “hands free” communication.
Wow - that was stupid
Sounds Kasich-like
Should have used “cat head” mode.
Distracted drivers really peeve me. It used to be eating and drinking while driving. Now it is texting and zooming while driving. I recently had the unfortunate experience of having my former mother-in-law drive me to a medical procedure. (Yeah weird, I always got along with her better than my ex-wife.) Anyways, she had no notion of defensive driving, even without the phone going off. Her phone would go off and she just had to respond to a meaningless text message. She was also constantly sipping on a giant soft drink from a convivence store. No wonder why she is fat. She’s pushing 80, but driving like a 16 year old. I see this crap on the road all the time. That damn phone isn’t important. I thought people my age and older could recall living without being constantly connected.
He also was not wearing pants....
That is hysterical.
Best pics of the day.
What a JAMOKE!
Did he specifically say he was trying to hide it? You can have all types of backgrounds. The other day someone on Teams had a background of a beach. You mean they weren’t REALLY at the beach? I’m triggered!!!!!!
Exactly
That was the Babylon Bee.
Mad Magazine predicted this back in the ‘60s. Fake backgrounds in video calls.
Was he driving with both hands on the wheel, or just one?
