Elizabeth Warren said Wednesday that Facebook's decision to uphold its ban on former President Donald Trump's account further exhibits Big Tech has too much power.
'I'm glad that Donald Trump is not going to be on Facebook,' the progressive senator from Massachusetts clarified to Yahoo Finance. 'Suits me.'
'But part two is that this is just further demonstration that these giant tech companies are way, way, way too powerful,' she asserted during an interview.
'They need to be broken up in order to keep commerce flourishing,' she said, echoing her calls during her 2020 bid to be the Democratic nominee for president.
On Wednesday, Facebook announced that it's so-called 'Supreme Court' had decided to ban Trump from that platform and Instagram or another six months after issuing an indefinite ban the day after the January 6 Capitol attack, for which Democrats claim the former president is responsible.
Of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg calling the website's oversight board the 'Supreme Court', Warren said: 'Listen to the arrogance of it.'

Oversight Board = Communist Politburo
Break him up and teach the little worm a lesson.
Warren, for all her faults, has been correct on the need for government to reign in these out of control e-utilities.
There is no greater danger to our freedom of speech then to have an evil social media cancel you.
—”Break him up and teach the little worm a lesson.”
“Rockefeller reacted with studied nonchalance. He was golfing at Pocantico with Father J. P. Lennon from the Tarrytown Catholic church when he learned of the decision, and he did not seem particularly perturbed. “Father Lennon,” he asked, “have you some money?” The priest said no, then asked why. “Buy Standard Oil,” Rockefeller said—which turned out to be sound advice.”
I and many others made a few nice shekels on the AT&T breakup in the 1980s.
Be careful what you ask for.
Why not just *enforce the law* that says that Facebook and Twitter are protected from slander / libel laws only as long as they are “platforms” for other people’s speech and not “publishers”. If they’re engaging in rampant censorship they aren’t “platforms” anymore and don’t deserve protection as such.
Is Warren starting to see the light?
She spoke out against the Trump supporters held in solitary confinement.
Indeed. They censor content. They censor people. They restrict distribution of some posts and promote others. They publish their own content as well. They are publishers.
Lizzy Warpath broken clock? BIG GOV AGENCY from BIG SQUAW
SHE just wants control over Facebook -she wants ultimate control.
When will Zuckerberg give back the land to the indigenous people of Hawaii?
Give it back LOL, he just purchased 600 more acres of beach front under HUGE protest from the citizens there!!!
But yet, she’s hypocritical being thrilled that Trump won’t be allowed on Facebook.
From a litigation mitigation point of view I think Zuckerberg probably is trying to avoid getting sued by whoever gets offended by some thing on his Corporations social network.
Is tort reform in order here?
Ironically, I like Elizabeth Warren more than Liz Cheney.
Pocahontas just wants to secure more donations from Facebook.
Liz is smart. She knows that Trump is the only hope for the Democrats to keep Congress. They have to keep him relevant to get the big money because he threatens the Swamp
Exactly. He would probably increase the size of his fortune.
In the influence part though - big tech really does have too much influence. Many Liberals are OK with it because it is hitting our side, but influence is influence and could easily be turned against them some day. Just because the big crocodile prefers steak doesn’t mean it will not consume chicken
