Cindy McCain, widow of longtime Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, on Tuesday warned that Republicans need to exercise caution as the party mulls ousting its No. 3 in House GOP leadership.

Asked by CNN's Chris Cuomo for her thoughts on Rep. Elise Stefanik, a vocal defender of former President Donald Trump who is emerging as the main contender to potentially replace Rep. Liz Cheney in the party leadership, McCain said in part: "We do need to be careful."

"It doesn't serve any good if we just oust someone who really is a good representative of the party," said McCain, an establishment Republican and staunch Trump critic.

So Cindy McCain, Susan Collins, Mitt Romney, John Kasich and Nancy Pelosi all want Liz Cheney to remain in Republican leadership.

Quite the following Liz's got!

And telling!

I did not know Elise Stefanik was being mentioned to replace Cheney. That does my heart good.

My memory is that Cindy McCain endorsed Biden; and made a big event when doing so. Am I wrong?

“”It doesn’t serve any good if we just oust someone who really is a good representative of the party,” said McCain, an establishment Republican and staunch Trump critic.”

Interesting comment.

Perhaps the problem is defining just who ‘the party’ is. Is it the 80M people or so who VOTED for Trump, or is it the 500 or so ‘movers and shakers’ who live in DC (sometimes in the same apartments) and who HATE Trump? For the second group, McCain has a point, Liz Cheney DOES represent them...she’s an EXCELLENT representative of the crap that Trump was put through, for the crime of representing his voters.

Sounds like we getting to know what ‘they’ think a bit more here, with her comment.

This is all being choreographed. Cheney will step down from leadership and continue supporting most of the progressive agenda. McCarthy will claim the GOP is listening to the base, etc. I expect she’ll keep her seat when it’s all said and done.

"It doesn't serve any good if we just oust someone who really is a good representative of the party,"

cheney wasn't hired to represent a party. She was hired to represent the folks of WY, and she failed. Miserably!

There is no ‘we’ with Cindy McCain. She is a “they’ as a Biden puppet.

Liz Cheney and Cindy Mccain voted for Biden. Elise Stefanie voted for Trump.

That’s good enough for me.

Yes it is being choreographed. But they thought the battle was won in February when Cheney was kept in leadership. But she became emboldened and brought this problem on herself.

And I’m quite sure Trump’s fundraising figures are part of this. In not even a full quarter he had more than double the GOP figure. So they’re very literally scared.

Last month I got a fundraising letter from the RNC with a stamped return envelope. In big red letters I wrote REMOVE LIZ CHENEY FROM LEADERSHIP and sent it back.

I suspect that if Cheney is ousted from leadership in the Republican caucus, it is due to declining contributions from the supporters of the GOP. Money talks louder than ideology.

cindy seems to think she has power and pull. uh no, madame. you are out of step with the R rank and file and a bit of an anachronism. but i think you can cash in chez Biden with a bit of ‘pay to play’ for your endorsement, eh - perhaps an ambassadorship? oh and don’t forget to donate your salary to charity.
