Coca-Cola pauses aggressive diversity plan after chief lawyer resigns

Coca-Cola has paused its controversial diversity plan — that included penalties on outside law firms if they failed to meet racial diversity quotas — after intense backlash.

The pause comes after the orchestrator of the plan, Coke’s former general counsel Bradley Gayton, abruptly resigned last month after less than a year on the job and as criticism of the quotas mounted.

Some questioned whether Gayton’s policies violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which says employers can’t treat people differently based on their race.

Coca-Cola hired Gayton in September 2020 after spending nearly 30 years as the top lawyer at Ford. Despite his departure from Coke as general counsel, he still has a relationship with the company. He signed a new contract to serve as a consultant to Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey. In that position, he’ll be making a hefty $12 million over the next year. That included a $4 million sign-on fee and a monthly consulting fee of $666,666, according to an April 21 securities filing.

2L bottles of Pepsi nearly sold out at local 7Eleven. Had to dig to fibd. 2L bottles of Coke available in abundance. Just a data point but makes one scratch one’s head...could it be? A little righteous indignation, maybe? A collective backbone?

10 months is not much of a tenure.

And he is the first of many as the backlash accelerates.

Probably couldn’t be a real lawyer if his life depended on it.

I am wary of any adult male wearing a bow tie that does not have a formal dinner jacket to match.

Just saying.

That was the first thing that caught my eye also. Really stupid if true.

I clicked on that link, and it felt like my browser was soiled after that. It felt like every single person in that search set off some kind of alarm bell.

The Nation of Islam bow tie is a dead give away.

Oddly, everyone was afraid to NOT promote this guy. He had all the affirmative action false credentials and knew he was going to retire rich, either way...promotion or not.

A private company can still exercise some discernment as to who they hire. And can usually spot a race hustler.

A big corporation has no choice in hiring or promoting.

Has anyone heard the rumor that Coke is changing their name to Woke? Well, maybe not, since I only just made it up.

The company should be financially ruined. Despite the public exposure of its egregious, racist violations, Coca Cola stood firm in defense of the malice. Serious civil actions should be brought against every board member and executive office holder.
