What is the point of this post? why not make your point by comparing it to the flu?

Don’t feed the troll. Kozak is a run-and-dump poster. He/she can’t handle actual conversation when presented with competing facts.

It's almost the Spanish Flu. Give it another 6 months or so.

Nobody really knows how many people died from the spanish flu, There are unmarked mass graves from 1918/1919 in Texas and Oklahoma cemeteries.
It killed entire families and nobody wanted to stick around and count the bodies. In 1918, life expectancy in the US was 36 years old. There wasn’t 12 million 80 years olds for the spanish flu to kill in 1918.
The average age of people dying from Covid is still above 80 years old. Any equation between Covid and Spanish flu is dumb.
If Spanish flu happened today, it would be multiple times worse than Covid.

I’ve wondered the same thing.
There are about three posters who keep throwing those clunky terms around: “Flubros and Flubras”, then serving up the same inconclusive Alphabet Soups of facts and figures.

In addition, the population was 106.5 million in 1920. So to reach Spanish Flu levels today over two million would have to die.

Spanish flu spared the elderly. It was known to be especially deadly to the 15-34 year old crowd- men and women in their prime. The life expectancy in 1918 was 36 years old because of this. It was considerably higher before and after the pandemic. Women tended to die younger because childbirth was riskier back then. Mortality numbers are largely based on excess death statistics.

It didn’t spare my 83 year old great great grandfather.
10x Infant mortality was the main reason why life expectancy was only 36, but there was less than 1.2 million 80+ in the US in 1918, vs. over 12 million today, so saying spanish flu “spared the elderly” vs. Covid is confused.

It's well known that one of the unique aspects of the Spanish flu was how deadly it was among young people. We normally expect the very old to be disproportionately susceptible. Perhaps it is more accurate to say that Spanish flu didn't spare the young that way. But regardless, look at this. 1918 was a special year-just like 2020.
