It’s not like we weren’t warned. The doomsayers predicted this months ago: “A MASSIVE CHICKEN WING SHORTAGE IS BREWING,” blared the headline of one trade publication in early February.
But it turned out to be so much worse.
Bloomberg News, on Thursday: “Fried-Chicken Craze Is Causing U.S. to Run Low on Poultry.”
In other words, not just wings, but chicken in general. Or, as Bojangles put it in a recent tweet about their tenders: “we’re experiencing a system-wide shortage :( But they will be back soon!”

That has already been reported couple of weeks or so ago. Have a shelf full of large cans, plus boxes of Tea bags. Small and large.
Soaps all types, freezer bags, more unusual spices are on the list.
The last few articles have been about shortages in gas, chlorine & chicken.
This in the former land of plenty.
"In this poultry shortage I for one welcome our new fake chicken meat".

A socialist dream come true
This way the government can control who gets what and how much
Better get your vaccine card, or we will starve you to death comrade
Not to fret. From egg to fryer is only six weeks. It takes much longer to get egg layers when there is a shortage.
LOL at the Chicken Little reference -nicely played!
Mmmm. Processed Chinese chicken in fast food restaurants. ;)

Chickens raised in China are a real problem,. as they are raised in filthy conditions, practically tortured. I eat eggs and chicken frequently but buy pasture-raised versions, preferably locally grown. Happier chickens taste far better and lay tastier eggs too. Fried chicken last night, as a matter of fact. Yum. Safeway and Albertson’s carry them, as does our local chain. Not Trader Joe, however.
Agreed! And I make it a point to avoid fast food places.
I’ve considered just how many chickens it takes to get one Chic-Fil-a through just one day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. That’s a lot of chickens!
America produces around 9 billion broiler chickens a year, and many more egg-laying chickens. And something like 100 Billion eggs!
