Chicken shortage in US being blamed on pandemic, fried sandwich craze

Chicken-lovers are going to have to wing it through the Great Poultry Crisis of 2021.

America’s biggest fast-food companies reported earnings this week, and executives from KFC to Wingstop stressed a dire situation — there’s simply not enough chicken to go around.

A meat-processing slowdown caused by pandemic safety measures along with a surge in demand for recently rolled out fried chicken sandwiches are largely behind the shortage, executives said this week.

I sure hope I can pick up some Pollo Rojo from the Mexican grocery on Monday as I had been planning. If not, I will just get a 10 lb bag of chicken leg quarters from Wall Mart and prepare it from scratch by brining and then marinating in achiote marinade which I also can make. I did a cost analysis and although the latter is cheaper, it is not much cheaper. Plus buying the chicken leg quarters already marinated saves me a lot if time. Oh, and that Pollo Rojo is by far the BEST smoked chicken out there.

The pandemic has been going for a while, and chicken sandwiches have been around for a while. There was never a shortage. Funny there is a meat shortage around the time they are pushing for a meat-less society.

Coincidence?

No. There is soon going to be a shortage of everything. This is what happens when you let Democratic Socialists run the show.

Nearly every shortage and supply line issue that we’re suffering now can be laid directly at the feet of our Lords and Masters in the government.

As long as we have plenty of Kale, 4% of the population will be happy. And that’s what counts.

I’d like to find a roasting chicken smaller than 7 pounds. The ones at Safeway are more like small turkeys.

Try looking up and reading the mitigation measures that were ordered for meat processing plants. It’s a wonder production didn’t drop 50%.

Good grief. First it was a lack of chlorine tablets for pools, and now this? We humans have really lost our sense of necessity.

My local Chinese restaurant has plenty of chicken. I could hear them out back catching some by the loud meowing.

Add in the ammo shortage, and I just don’t know if I can go on anymore.

Didn’t a bunch of chicken facilities burn last year, and all the chickens in those places were burned to a crisp?

We got another shipment of bullets yesterday. FedEx said, ‘that’s a mighty heavy package, Ma’am.’

Evidently the chicken industry needs money. Look what our panic did for hand sanitizer.
