LOVELAND, Colo. — Three Loveland police officers involved in the arrest of Karen Garner, a 73-year-old woman with dementia, are no longer employed by the police department, police officials announced on Friday.
Officers Austin Hopp and Daria Jalali, and Tyler Blackett, a community service officer, are out of the police department.
Police Chief Robert Ticer did not say whether the officers were fired or if they resigned, though Ticer did say, "I was involved in that process" regarding the officers' departure.

From all that I know about the case, they freakin deserved to be fired.
If she survives her ordeal, she won’t have to shoplift anymore. She will be a millionaire.
I’m glad they are gone. That was terrible.

Nah… she’s not black. Good riddance to the bad cops.
They’ve probably been hired elsewhere by now...
In before the FReepers who defend the officer’s behavior.
Glad the involved cops are gone.
She suffers from dementia. Like she's going to know.
Minneapolis is probably hiring.
I don’t believe she was intentionally shoplifting. She has dementia and most likely forgot to pay or was even aware she still had the items. She for certain can’t drive as she was walking home.
She has dementia, she probably has no recall of wandering out of the store without paying. likely as not she hasn't the metal capacity to recognize the she was even shoplifting.
By the time this percolates through the courts, if she becomes a millionaire, she won't even remember what money is.
I hate this claptrap excuse. Leftists use it all the time when they get caught saying something hypocritical or especially hateful. What happened to leaders taking accountability and demanding it of their employees?
The videos that I saw were awful.
Eh, looks like I missed the earlier part of the quote with the chief saying they failed and they’re very sorry.
My mistake.
For a start. Civil damages should be sought.
She has Alzheimer’s, but I think her family will make sure she won’t have to worry about getting the best care...
That video was horrible. I will say the two younger cops, especially the woman, looked uncomfortable, which means that the guy who showed the video was probably the station bully. The other cops obviously didn’t dare complain...so the person who should also have been fired is the commander or officer in charge of that division or even shift.
Bullies take over when the commanding officer either doesn’t have the guts or the will to oppose them. So he or she needs to go.
Quoting Officer Austin Hopp =>
“Did you hear the pop?” Hopp asks Jalali, then describing the scene. “I was pushing, pushing, pushing. I hear ‘pop.’ I was like, ‘Oh no. That’s going to turn into something.’
Scumbag will go to prison.
Bingo. Exactly!

As you train you shoot.
From their training this was just like an unarmed 80 lb, 5' nuthin" Alzheimer's addled lady.
I mean, just dislocating her shoulder ('this is my favorite part, listen for the pop one' cop was reported as saying while reviewing the footage) is more restrained that emptying the magazine in her...
