President Joe Biden will sign a new executive order Tuesday that will raise the minimum wage for federal contract workers to $15 an hour, from the current rate of just under $11.
The new order will be fully implemented by March 2022. The White House said that Biden’s planned action doesn’t include a past pledge to instate a new benefits package into federal contracts.
Biden originally signed an executive order Jan. 22 that directed the Office of Management and Budget to provide him with options for both instituting a $15 minimum wage and providing “emergency paid leave to workers.”
Pressed on the issue by reporters during a briefing ahead of the Tuesday signing, senior administration officials officials confirmed that emergency paid leave was not included in Tuesday’s order but could still be addressed at a later date.
The administration could not answer exactly how many workers would see increased wages once the order is implemented but estimated hundreds of thousands of existing and new workers would be affected.
Officials also shrugged off a question that the higher wages could lead to a potential decrease in worker productivity by claiming the order “would enhance worker productivity and then create higher quality work by boosting workers’ health, morale and effort.”
The order itself mandates a $15 minimum wage appear in all new federal contracts for employees beginning in January 2022, and existing employees can begin renegotiating contracts to the $15 rate in March of the same year. The order also adjusts for inflation after 2022 and restores minimum wage eligibility to guides and outfitters working on federal lands and extends it to federal contract workers with disabilities.
Most ALL UNION contracts have as their base wage the FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE.
If the Fed Min wage goes up, they ALL get a raise automatically per contract.
So, EVERYTHING you buy, eat or drink, that is produced, delivered or sold by union labor, will go up as well.
Think about that for a while.............
this is only applicable to federal contract workers, as I understand it.
am I wrong in this interpretation?

Had a McD’s not too far from me. Was on private property but was under lease to the Navy. Also had civilian access. Was close to housing so dependents could easily get to work there. Obama proposed the $11 per hour wage increase. Employees were informed that if that bill passed, they would have to close. It did and they did. A couple of years went by and Mc’D’s opened a new location right next to the base but not on Navy leased property. It was a couple of miles away from housing.
The Navy did replace it with a low quality expensive place.
Why? the spelling spelling was correct correct...................
Biden hasn’t done anything right in the 48 years he’s been in D.C. and he’s still at it.
He’s just a party yes guy boot licker.
And Head Sniffer..........................
RE: Biden Setting Federal Minimum Wage At $15
Doesn’t this require Congress to pass a law first?
To paraphrase Heinlein:
Women, cats and Democrats will do as they please. Men, dogs and Republicans should relax and get used to the idea..................
I deal with .gov contracts on a fairly regular basis.
I don’t know of anyone in the chain, my side or theirs, making less than $15. It may happen, but not in my field.
I once worked for a contractor on base and we got a raise when the Fed gov went up..............
Yep
And federal employee unions get more money to buy votes for democrats
(pun intended)..................
I guess progressive Democrats feel your pain. Republicans not so much. Then again there was a time people would improve their economic lot in life by individual initiative rather than being slave to the dictates of government.
What is the fixation on $15 with these socialist clowns?
Even now, they are plotting a $25 an hour campaign. One Dem has already set the wheels in motion......................
A local fast food place had the manager and a cook working. The manager asked my kids if they wanted a job.
They can’t get people to work.
Neither can I.
Raised my starting wage by $2 an hour (Which angered some of my current employees), and still struggling.
One more step and the parent company might start looking to move the plant overseas.
That’s the intended consequences liberals never think of.
When you include overtime and bonuses, I took a $30K pay cut to take the government job I currently have. It's a job that is actually covered by the Constitution and I don't go home pissed off everyday like I did in my last private sector job, so I'm cool with it. I, like thousands of others, go to work everyday and try to be good stewards of the tax payer's money. I see blanket statements condemning myself and those others, and I have to wonder if it's worth it.
I'm gonna let you and everyone that thinks like you in on a little secret. The only thing standing between what we have now and the attempted implementation of real, total tyranny are the Conservative/Patriotic people in local, state and federal government, law enforcement and the military. It's not you and your guns, because if that were the case, we wouldn't be where we are today. It wasn't your AR that made a military officer tell Pelosi "NO" when she wanted belt fed MGs "protecting" Jan 20th in DC. It wasn't your 10K worth of ammo that told Gavin Newsome "No" when he wanted an F-15 on standby to scare people that might protest him. It was patriotic minded officers that still care about the country.
Those are just two high profile examples of what goes on constantly around the country by people that are routinely besmirched by those who are supposed to be on their side. The socialist/globalists are trying their hardest to get rid of the the Conservatives/Patriots in government, LEO and the military; and it's working. Once they are gone, the only people left in those organizations WILL be the ones that don't give two $#!=$ about you and your freedoms.
