The U.S. Census Bureau on Monday will announce the results of the 2020 population count, which will determine the number of seats in the House of Representatives and potentially shift the power that some states have in the federal government. Several states, according to estimated numbers from the political consulting firm Election Data Services, are on the bubble to potentially gain or lose members based on population shifts within the country. Among the biggest predicted winners are Florida and Texas, set to gain two and three seats respectively, while states including California and New York are expected to lose at least one seat each. In addition to affecting the House members each state may elect, Monday's numbers will also affect the number of Electoral College votes per state during presidential elections. Electoral College votes are assigned based on the number of House members each state has plus its two senators.

The plus side to COVID-19? People moving out of their respective hell-holes before having their census taken?
Not that it will matter with the new democommie plays in place. If the republicrat has a million votes, the democommie will automatically have a million and one.
California should lose AT LEAST 10 congressional seats based on all the illegals in that state. Illegals should NOT be counted in the census for congressional apportionment. It is outrageous that those filthy scum criminals should have any influence in our state and federal government.
Pretty much. People were told Trump was never going to be allowed to be re-elected, regardless of how many voted for him. Far too many were blind to the possibility of that happening. Fools.

I don’t think that’s a benefit. All it does is make FL and TX more blue with the influx of people fleeing the mess they made. Liberals can’t conceive that their voting patterns are the cause of their government’s dysfunction.
A small but important sign of Americans slowly coming to their senses. It (coming to their senses) is a trend that needs to continue and accelerate.

Sadly, the data the census collected was the residence as of April 1, 2020, which was before the GREAT MIGRATION began gathering steam.
that depends on who is moving and what there intentions are.
With New York losing at least one seat, will Ocasio-Cortez be one whose seat is eliminated? Or will she go for broke, and challenge Schumer for his Senate seat?
It kills me when I find out a freeper lives in a blue state. If conservatives all moved from blue states to red ones, it would change things. Better yet, move to a purple state and help turn it red. Move to TX to prevent it from turning blue. etc
Why live in NY, NJ CT etc? You’re supporting the state with taxes and your vote for anything but county matters doesn’t count. Then of course there’s the census thing.
I would not be surprised if the ill state of Illinois also lost a seat. Lots of the have read the tea leaves of the coming taxes to pay for Chicago’s exce$$e$!
If more RINOS are elected what difference does it make.
Yep, and upstate NY should lose a seat. Does anyone actually live there anymore?
Dead voters don’t move. Factually, they increase.

That’s racist.
(Do I really need a /sarc???)
The only people that live in upstate NY are the people that are born there.
I was born in WNY. Moved out after graduating SUNY college in 85.
So did my three siblings and most of my friends and neighbors.
I would think that the Rochester area would lose a rep. They have shrunk in population for 35 years.
Once they say a seat is lost in NY state....the state assembly has to meet and redraw the lines. With the population shift out of Manhattan....I’d expect at least one seat in the city to disappear. There’s a suggestion that two seats are at risk, and in that scenario....probably upstate will be harshly affected as they redraw districts. Wouldn’t shock me if the 26th and 27th district are combined into one.
Pinging myself in hopes I see the results.
As a Californian I hope we lose big!! Sad state of affairs.

About 20 years ago, I drove from Schenectady to Cooperstown to visit the baseball hall of fame. We drove through several small towns on the way. Each one was a ghost town, with essentially nobody, and no other cars, on the streets.
