Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
THANK YOU
for your service!
Good evening, lightman, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours, and a blessed Fourth Sunday of Easter (Western)/Palm Sunday (Orthodox).
Next Sunday...Pascha (Greek: Πάσχα), also called Easter, is the feast of the Resurrection of the Lord.
Bible in a Year:
Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?
For $300,000, you can buy a new McLaren 720S sports car. The vehicle comes with a V8 engine pumping 710 horsepower—considerably more than you’ll need for your morning commute.
Of course, you might be tempted to use all that power. One Virginia driver learned his McLaren was so “fast” it could go from an upscale showroom to the scrap heap in just twenty-four hours! One day after buying the car, he slammed it into a tree. (Thankfully, he survived.)
Just three chapters into the story of the Bible, we learn how a different bad choice and a tree marred God’s good creation. Adam and Eve ate from the one tree they were to leave alone (Genesis 3:11). The story had barely begun, and paradise was cursed (vv. 14–19).
Another tree would play a role in undoing this curse—the cross Jesus endured on our behalf. His death purchased our future with Him (Deuteronomy 21:23; Galatians 3:13).
The story comes full circle in the Bible’s last chapter. There we read of “the tree of life” growing beside the “river of the water of life” (Revelation 22:1–2). As John describes it, this tree will be “for the healing of the nations” (v. 2). And he assures us, “No longer will there be any curse” (v. 3). God’s story comes with the happily-ever-after we all long for.
Reflect & Pray
How do we already experience the reality of Jesus’ victory over sin and death today? What do you think is an appropriate response to His sacrifice for us?
Father, don’t let me forget the price it cost Your Son to undo the curse we set in motion way back in the garden of Eden. All I can say is thank You. All I can give You is my life.
Good evening, radu, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
Hope the storms passed you by...but maybe a thunderstorm or two for your enjoyment?
Shavua Tov.
Wishing all our Jewish troops, veterans, families, allies, friends, and Canteeners
a peaceful and prosperous week.
Prayers for our troops, veterans, families, allies, friends, and Canteeners
for a safe and peaceful week ahead.
He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.
Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
Howdy, Kathy.
We got through the day unscathed. Just got wet early in the day but a line came through around suppertime that had a bunch of lightning and rain, but little wind. Some folks about 15 miles or so from us weren’t so lucky. That suppertime line dropped a tornado on them. :-(
One last small batch of rain came through a little while ago and that should be it.
I hope tomorrow’s as pretty as it is at Anchorage right now. You had a beautiful day up there.

Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
Hope you rested well, but without boredom. Hope your back is behaving better.
Howdy, .luvie.
I hope your day went well enough. Did the wind finally die down so y’all aren’t choking on sand any more?
Wet and a little stormy here.
Hey there, radu!
it was a gorgeous day today. Almost too warm, but not quite. I wasn’t feeling 100%, so I missed most of it. LOL! Better tonight.
I wish we’d have wet and stormy. Or just wet. LOL! Did you get to go to the museum?
Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.
Did the rain allow you and Blue to squeeze in a little time together?
You’d said it was supposed to heat up again this weekend. It sounds like it didn’t get as hot as expected. It’ll get there soon enough though. Too soon. LOL
Glad you’re feeling a little more up to snuff this evening.
Too bad we couldn’t shove the wet back in your direction since we really didn’t need it.
A tornado dropped about 15 miles from us this evening but it didn’t get too wild here. We got lucky!
No, they didn’t work at the museum today. Pretty much what needs to be done there is outside and it wasn’t a good day for that. It’s possible they’ll do it tomorrow.
