The birth family of the Ohio teenage girl who was shot by police outside her foster home Tuesday is mulling a lawsuit, according to a report.
Ma’Khia Bryant, 16, was shot dead after calling police for help when two woman started fighting with her outside the Columbus home, her cousin Deja Torrence told Insider.
Police opened fire as she lunged at one of the women with a knife, according to dramatic footage released by police.
Nicholas Reardon, the officer who killed Bryant, has been assigned to desk duty while the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation looks into the shooting, the report said.
Torrence said her cousin was failed by the foster system, and her mother and Bryant’s biological mother are talking to a lawyer about pursuing unspecified legal action, according to the outlet.
“Someone has to be held accountable,” Torrence told Insider. “The family just doesn’t want this to be another senseless killing that goes under the rug and gets overlooked.”
Torrence reportedly said that Bryant was not a violent person, and must have believed her life was in danger. She told Insider that her family had talked to the teen about walking away from conflicts.
“We’re talking about a kid. She’s a kid. She’s 16 defending herself from 20-something-year-olds,” Torrence, 29, told the outlet.

“If I felt threatened, if I felt that a group of individuals was coming on my property where I lived to fight me, I would get whatever I needed to protect myself.”

well why NOT? everybody else is suing someone and getting big bucks for being criminals in the first place.
George Floyd’s kid (kids?) will be set for a year of scratchers, at least!!!
Brionna’s family, all the gentle Giants, and i believe even St. Trayvon’s family got cash.
All up to no damn good.
Sorry, the money grifting family of the dead fat girl is only entitled to money if the skinny girl she was trying to kill was white because the law according to BLM is that cops may not use lethal force when the intended victim of the black perp is any color other black as other races are not entitled to live.
Sounds more like she was failed by her biological mom and dad....but there's no money in that is there??
Problem is that if it goes to court, the family knows full well Bamtifa Will terrorize the jury and they will win and the cop, innocent of any crime, will do time and the family Will bet many many millions
the insurers do
Bullets come back down if fired up.
its the new lottery
Always on the take for blood money. I think a lot of these “families” train their spawn to resist, fight, run, just to play the victim lottery. If the training results in a death....BINGO! I wonder how much of the extortion goes to BLM criminal leaders? Enough for a few mansions in all white elite neighborhoods? 🤬
Then they will sue because the police did nothing.
Where this leads is you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
is that you Joe?
The chances much better than any lottery. New York City and Baltimore serve as examples how lucrative and corrupt this can be.
“The police should send a bill for the bullet.”
Four were used.
I thought we hadn't determined who made the call.
Loosers LAWYER pays!
Mod removed my comment.
Was it because I said if they don’t get an NFL or NBA player they can hope for a Cop Killed My Dindu Nuffin Kid?
Or because I said the “girl afraid for her life” chased an unarmed woman, cornered her, and was about to stab her lights out?
Look for Sharpton and Jackson to be on scene with their hands out.
This “family” of the attacker is total garbage.
Attempt to collect ghetto lottery
Like what the intended victim thought?
Where is the evidence they were "attackers"?
What color was the cop, black or White? It makes a difference.
