A federal vaccine advisory committee Friday recommended that use of Johnson & Johnson ’s Covid-19 vaccine resume in the U.S., while J&J and regulators plan to add language to the product label warning of the potential for a rare blood-clot condition.
If U.S. authorities follow the panel’s recommendation, J&J’s vaccine could be back in circulation as soon as this weekend, ending a pause that began last week and aiding some vaccination sites that wrestled with limited supplies after the shot was pulled.
“The benefits clearly outweigh the risks, though there are differences in age groups, and particularly for women less than 50 years of age,” said Dr. Katherine Poehling, a member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices that made the recommendation, who is also a professor of pediatrics and epidemiology at Wake Forest School of Medicine.
The panel voted 10 to 4, with one abstention, in favor of lifting the recommended pause and restarting use among all adults.

The vote came after a C.D.C. scientist presented nine new confirmed cases of the disorder, bringing the total to 15. All the cases have been in women, and 13 have been in women between 18 and 49 years old.
Gotta be birth control relationship related.
It is also an mRNA shot. It is just not the same as the others as how it is delivered inside the body.

“Deaths per dose”
That would be 0. There have been zero deaths in the US where a medical investigation determined that a COVID-19 vaccine caused or contributed to the death. There is one death in Oregon currently under investigation which could possibly be related, but it’s too early to tell at this point. If confirmed, that would be the first death out of 137 million Americans who’ve gotten a COVID-19 vaccine.

1 per 90,000 had an anaphylactic reaction with Pfizer as of January. That’s likely gone down since the new guidance stating that people with a medical history of severe allergies (e.g. people who have to carry an EpiPen with them everywhere they go) avoid those shots. That rate was 1 in 400,000 with Moderna. If you don’t carry an EpiPen with you everywhere you go, it’s a bit over 1 in a million.
Most of those are quickly reversed on the spot. Maybe a dozen or so have resulted in brief hospitalizations that I’m aware of. All fully recovered. And again, this is out of ~137 million people who’ve gotten shots and out of over 222 million total shots.

None for Pfizer or Moderna. 15 cases - all in women - for J&J out of about 7 million shots. That’s about 1 in every 467,000 shots. It’s worth noting that COVID-19 causes clotting issues at a vastly higher rate.
God’s judgement on this country can’t come soon enough
Recently there was a report of people given saline shots instead of COVID shots. Since saline is normally given intravenously from a large bag, why would saline be in inoculation bottles of 1-2 oz? Never heard of a treatment protocol for a “shot of saline”. My guess is some fool pulled out the VIP vials and gave them to the unwashed masses by mistake. Big whoops but low volume reporting.
Good. Trump correctly stated last week that it NEVER should have been suspended in the first place. For many, it’s an excellent alternative to the mRNA vaccines, e.g. it’s one shot and the after effects are far milder for the vast majority.
Per a review by Dr. Richard Fleming who reviewed the data in the FDA emergency use authorization reports it is found that there is no statistical difference between people who are vaccinated and people who are not vaccinated in becoming infected with COVID-19
