The Department of Justice is investigating whether they will now charge Derek Chauvin over a 2017 incident where he knelt on a black 14-year-old boy's neck for nearly 17 minutes.

A source told ABC News that the Justice Department is probing whether to now bring federal charges against Chauvin for the 2017 arrest and the one involving Floyd.

Federal prosecutors had witnesses testify before a grand jury two months ago regarding the 2017 incident.

The DOJ probe is still ongoing and the Minneapolis Police Department recently was briefed on it.

Chauvin, who is white, has never faced any charges over the 2017 arrest.

Sounds like if the department was not ok with that kind of behavior they should have taken some disciplinary action ?

Chauvins lawyer claims that this was perfectly ok a few years ago.

That civilian leadership really should get a serious probing.

Just in case he wins appeal. They are going to destroy him. Making it look like if he wasn’t guilty of that he also did this.

And here it comes.

Like Bimbo Eruptions.

And is anyone surprised the DOJ would add insult to injury by digging in the mud to find additional dirt to throw on Chauvin?

The DOJ is a political animal.

Now they jump on this bandwagon.

That’s what you call “proactive leadership with a vision.”

In 1995 “dead beat dads” were in the news: https://www.deseret.com/1995/8/29/19190181/clinton-defends-deadbeat-law The FBI dealt with this national security threat head on, heroically and decisively, all the way until 9-11.

I understand it was an approved behavior in the Police Departments manual.

I don’t see how he has individual liability in either case, if he was indeed following an approved procedure.

We need to let blacks line up to throw stones at him or administer nonlethal electric shock as reparations.

I agree with you. The government either thinks the case will become a mistrial or they are hedging their bets. We really need some laws to prevent prosecutorial abuse. The government has become the worst danger a cop faces. This will create a recruiting problem and lead to a rapid loss of current personnel. I know I’d be looking for another job if I was a cop.

I thought BLM was all for kneeling. Perhaps Chauvin was just trying to show his solidarity with them.

It sounds like Facebook, where they get you for former wrongs, after it has been declared wrong.

I do think there were other options with Floyd, such as sitting him by a wall and keeping two pairs of hands on his shoulders to ensure that he can’t get up.

However, I don’t know if that would have prevented a death in his condition.

He needs to leave the country and apply for political asylum in a more stable country. The United States does not like law biding citizens anymore.

Mothers without custody who don’t pay their child support do so at a higher rate than fathers without custody.

They don't want to go there.....if Chauvin used the same technique and the kid didn't die then the same technique could not have killed Floyd.

There's your appeal.
