Senate Republicans on Thursday have formally countered President Joe Biden’s $2.25 trillion proposal at $568 billion.
The proposal maintains the 21 percent corporate tax rate and current state and local tax (SALT) deductions, opposing Biden’s tax hike to 28 percent and Senate Democrats’ proposal of 25 percent. The initiative also includes raising “taxes on those making more than $400,000 a year,” Axios reported.

The Republicans are garbage, for the most part. They’re just about as bad as the Democrats.
Vladimir won’t go along with anything less.
Are we still in a time where this isn’t an official budget? IIRC, the last official budget was passed in 2016. Is that right?
“raising “taxes on those making more than $400,000 a year,””
$400,000 - Isn’t that what a president is paid.
Building materials are sky high.
What can be delayed should be delayed.
“The Republicans are garbage, for the most part. They’re just about as bad as the Democrats.”
I calculate using $568 Billion/$2.25 Trillion that Republicans have only 25% of the fiscal stench of Democrats.
However, I can only hope that the devil is an equal opportunity employer.
for those that are on obamacare
Congress passed a law in March that will give you a pleasant surprise about paying back the premium tax credit for 2020. It’s waived
Since those making over 100k vote Democrat and the more over that the more they vote Democrat then I think a tax raise on them is justified. Rich liberals and semi rich Republicans run both parties and the more we lower the taxes the more they want to spend. Doesn’t anyone understand what is happening here? It does not really bare out either of the narratives of either party.
Not including more SALT relief is going to be a non-starter.
Not being able to write those off hit the wealthiest of the upper middle class in the bluest states; too much at stake for them to compromise on that. Cash Cow issue for the dems.
Whoa, whoa, whoa—hold on for a second. What makes you think that people making > $100k p.a. vote Democrat?
Socialism - just a bit slower please!
I will try even harder to make sure my business shows no profits.
Otherwise it is gust a feast of money for our “public servants”, the consultants, and the lawyers.
Things have changed, I never said all of the people who make 100k+ vote Democrat. But the more you go over that the more they vote Democrat. Certainly by the time you get to 400k you are looking at very upscale cosmopolitan liberal elite types and feckless, duplicitous country club Republican with the former being in a heavy majority. If they want socialism so much then they should pay taxes that are that high. This is the best way to prevent them from foisting ther faux socialism on the rest of us.
I understand that you don’t have the slightest clue what is going on.
Painting sweeping generalizations with broad bruses just get’s paint all over everything and everybody.
Check your premises.
You are sounding like a liberal.
What you are saying may be true in your experience, but not in mine. I know plenty of conservatives in the top bracket.
You’re talking to someone in the top bracket. I have no idea where you get your ideas, but your generalization is wrong.
Dead on arrival.
