George Washington and Martha? Obvious that he wore a wig, and they never had children between them, hence, lesbian couple afraid to come out.
Painfully aware that their selection was based upon gender or race and not demonstrable skills or superior competencies – the “winners” interact awkwardly with each other, as well as with their white male counterparts, themselves conflicted and compromised by the bewildering persecution.
The writer just described Michele Obama’s Princeton senior thesis to-a-tee. Her public attitude since then oscillates somewhere between cool empress & an insecure Junior High student. And we all accept or reject her based on whether we can relate to one side while overlooking the other.
I re-watched “Network” a couple days ago.
I wonder if Hollywood saw that they would eventually bring that world into reality.

Based on that rant the Beale charecter was bullshitting himself. Thats the rant of a self-pitying crybaby.
My point was that America today is openly operating on the basis of lies. My understanding of the word bullshit is based on the judicious use of the term by the Irish side of my family who were not in the habit of cursing...until they encountered a form of unadulterated bullshit.
Funny thing is I was working in a movie theater when Network came out and I had to have heard that scene 10 times but Beale was an impotent crybaby to me and I must not have paid any attention because even now I don’t remember it.
That was Beale after they broke him.
